OH WOW

We set off  just before 10am to collect the quilt, Oh my goodness its fantastic, and the cost was so reasonable I could not believe it. I will sew the binding etc on and then photograph it.

Sunny day but cool wind. The library bus comes today, its ages since it last came. Looking forward to new book to read at last.

My neighbour across the road has been admitted to hospital, she woke again a couple of nights ago and could not get her breath, the Dr decided to send a ambulance for her. Her son phoned me this morning, they are keeping her in for a day or two to clear the fluid on her chest which is hampering her breathing.

Gardener due this afternoon, front garden, some plants to move and it needs weeding. Then we can look at plants to go in the back.

Supper tonight is fish and chips, chocolate mousse for dessert.

An appointment

DB wears insoles in this shoes and slippers to correct a problem with the arches. The last lot were collected 2 years ago. Yesterday he phoned to get an appointment, he is to go today at 2pm. He wants to go in to shop in town whilst we are there. Tesco is on the same road as the hospital so will be nipping in to fill up the car. It was 3/4full when we picked it up.

We both had a bad night, reading till after 2am. So a slow start. Apart from the hospital visit, thats it, a quiet day.

Email from DD1 last night, she has covid. Her second injection was due today, she is house bound until after the weekend and will get the second jab next Wednesday. he has no idea where she got it unless it was someone at work.

I have a quiche in the oven for supper, we will have it with salad.

Back down to earth

The car in its parking space. I had to nip to the Drs to get medication, did a bit of a circuit to the Post Office and then home. It id going to take some getting used to.

It was a cloudy morning, but the sun has come out this afternoon, the wind is something else though.

DB has an appointment at the hospital tomorrow afternoon to get his feet measured for new insoles, he did not get any last year due to the lockdown. We will continue into Melton to a shop DB wants to visit. Friday morning I will be giving the car a trial on the A46 into Leicester to pick up Niblets quilt, so I will be busy over the weekend getting the binding and label on.

Supper tonight is should of pork with mixed veg and pilau rice. possibly ice cream for dessert.

Its here!!

We were off just before 9.30am this morning to collect the new to us car. It took ages to go through everything, but by 10.45 we were on our way to Aldi. Parked well away from any other cars, do not want any scratches on the first day we have it. I will post a photo tomorrow after we have put all the gubbins in it.

We managed round Aldi and home with no problems. Things have changed so much, you do not get a book, all the info regarding the car are on a usb key you are given with the ignition key.....all 245 pages of it. I have read about the first 10 pages on my lap top, so much info to absorb. It will go for its first long run on Friday when I collect Niblets quilt. S phoned me yesterday saying it was done and did I want it trimming......oh yes please. I am planning on taking it with me into Leicester when I go to the big M & S anongst other shops.

Supper tonight is bacon frittata, new potato's and tomato and celery salad for supper, there are a couple of bits of cheese cake for dessert.

Sunny but brrr

The wind is making it feel chilly out, I have the heating off and the windows open, give the place an airing.

We had a very good visit to the garden centre, the small plant house is full just now. I need to go through the pots and get them ready to plant up, I discovered a lily growing in one pot yesterday, I need to skim the top 3" of compost off and back fill it. There were a couple of plants I could not get, will wait a couple of weeks and try again, they are very well priced. I need lupins and foxglove as well as a hollyhock. I am also considering getting one of the Italian conifers that grow to a point rather than bush out, I need a focal point in the border. I can take the growing tip out so it stays small.

Bed stripped and in the washer, will dry outside, I also need to clear the car ready for tomorrow. It will be a sad parting she has been part of our lives for 13 years and carried us safely on some long trips with the caravan.

Supper tonight, cold chicken. I am about to put a loaf of bread on, running out of bread for sandwiches.

Out for a Jolly

Having read yesterday that a local to us garden centre was open and had plants ready for sale, we decided to go this morning. It was sunny but the wind chill is something else, especially on top of the hill where the garden centre is based.

I ended up spending £54 on plants for the baskets and tubs, DB also bought some veg plants as well. We had lined the boot of the car with plastic to protect the inside of the boot. I had the old quilted throw in the washer, we carry it in the car as well as a bag with fleece blankets and cushions. Be prepared has always been our motto, especially when we lived in Scotland.

Back home the washer was finished so the quilt is on the line, it should dry. All the bedding plants are in the little plant house until the chance of frost is over, need to remember to water them every couple of days especially if its warm.

I have decided to go to Aldi after we pick the car up on Tuesday, it will save me a visit later in the week. We need to remember to change the shopping bags etc over from the old car.

I have the veg to prep for supper, we are having roast crown of chicken with all the trimmings, there should be enough chicken for supper tomorrow, or for sandwiches at lunchtime.

Another

sunny day, but the breeze makes it feel cold. I have a load of coloured stuff in the washer, it will go out on the line when its finished.

I need to have a wardrobe clear out, I am planning to just have a capsule wardrobe of mix and match stuff. I could do with a couple of pairs of trousers, I have two pairs which could do with going in the rag bag. Will have to have a trip into Leicester see what I can find. I also need to weed out shirts/blouses, I tend to wear just trousers and a 'T' shirt unless we are going somewhere 'posh'. I could also do with a new pair of shoes, I have had my 3 pairs of shoes for at least 10 years, could do with at least one pair biting the dust. I no longer wear heels, so there are two good pairs I am going to try and sell.

T came yesterday afternoon, the herbaceous border is weeded and he has pruned a couple of plants, some of them will have to wait until they have finished flowering before they are cut back. He went on to weed the rest of the garden and generally tidy up.......he will be back next Friday and we will see about moving some stuff. I am hopefully going to go to a new garden centre this week, and may come home with some goodies. I also have the tubs to plant, The geraniums are trailers so will need something upright for the centre of the tubs. I also need to repot the lily, will give it a good watering and see if we can get it out of its pot. I will need to keep a watch out for lily beetle.

We had an invasion of ants last night in the kitchen, liberal sprinkling of ant powder soon saw them off, will have to keep my eyes peeled, along with spiders they are my pet hate.

Quilt label done just have to neaten the two edges I will sew down by hand, so just waiting for the call to collect the quilt.

All day breakfast tonight, need to do a menu list for next month and sort out my shopping list, I am planning a personal visit to Aldi this month.

Friday, April 23, 2021

At last

I seem to have found a gardener who knows about plants!! He came to see me yesterday afternoon, his eyes lit up when he saw the border, before I could stop him he had pulled dead stuff off new growth coming up and a handful of weeds. He is coming back today to start. Reasonable cost as well, he lives just up the lane from us and gets around on a bike.

DB will be out this morning I watered heavily last night, the ground is so parched, we have flowers on one lot of strawberries, so they will be netted to stop the birds if they develop into fruit.

Its a sunny morning, but guess the breeze will cool it down quite a bit, the heat is off until DB gets up after his siesta. I was so shattered last night I went to bed at 9.30 and was asleep before DB came to bed.

I need to sew the label for Niblets quilt, so will get on with that this morning, the binding is ready. Apart from that nothing really planned.

Supper, the usual fish and chips, there are a couple of individual trifles in the fridge, we will have those for dessert.

Broke

Paid for my car this morning, so broke again. The car is not new 3 years old with very low mileage, I have only ever bought one new car which was a Nissan Micra many years ago.

Waiting to hear from the lady who is doing Niblets quilt. I am planning this morning on getting the binding ready, mostly pale blue but have cut what fabric I had left into strips and will put them at the end of each bit of pale blue, iron it ready to stitch on.

DB is going out to the garden, I have a new chap coming to look at it this afternoon, he does the garden for a friend, they are moving so he is looking for work.

Supper will be meatballs in tomato sauce with spaghetti.......possibly ice cream for dessert.

Bit of a fruaght day

Yesterday we had a concerted search to find my certificate of insurance so I could cancel it, I had sourced a reasonable quote from Go Compare. Eventually I found some documents in a folder on my computer.........I had managed to insure my new car with the same people, so I had to phone and sort it out. The lady had both cars under my name on her screen, so one starts from midnight on Monday and the cover on my old car is cancelled from midnight on Tuesday, so both are covered for the change over.

Another nice day yesterday, its dull and quite cool this morning, I think coats will be required to walk round to the chapel for the coffee morning. Nothing else on today, my brain needs to take a rest!!

DB's tomato plants are growing away, he needs to repot them, 6 will be going to my neighbours son and four to my cleaner, the rest are ours. He has also sown lettuce and beetroot which will need to go into the garden shortly.

Still no work done on the binding for Niblets quilt, need to concentrate on it so I can get it done and delivered.

This is a similar car to the one I have bought, mine is dark grey, this is black. They have taken it off the website as it has been sold. Will post another photo once its home.

We have found a new garden centre, so will be taking the new car for a run, a bit of a jolly, next week.

Supper tonight is beef casserole with veggies, will try not to allow the steamer to boil dry and I did on Monday, I was not popular!!
There is some fruit cocktail that needs finishing up, so a blob of ice cream and thats dessert.

Tuesday, April 20, 2021

Its done

Yesterday I bought a new car....pictures to follow, We collect it on Monday.

Bright morning, but its going cooler now, had the cold hand syndrome again yesterday, my fingers go blue, so once I feel it chilly I need to put a fleece on.

Nothing done this morning except a frantic search for my Insurance cover, eventually remembered that I had a copy of the paper work so was able to ring and insure the new car and cancel the cover on my old car.....DB nearly drove me to drink trying to talk over me when I was on the phone........no wonder he has the dreaded palps again, I was ready to lamp him!!!

Still now started on the binding for Niblets quilt, might manage some tomorrow.

Egg and chips tonight, will sort a dessert out from the store cupboard.

Monday, April 19, 2021

Ouch

After yesterdays cleaning marathon, the car is bright and shiny, mine and DB's muscles are telling us we spent 2 1/2hrs on it.

Going this afternoon to test drive the Corsa and see what the position re our old faithful is.

Bright morning, not quite so cold, still need a jumper on outside though. No laundry I did it yesterday.

Cut more off the lamb joint, we will have it tonight with potato's and veg, need to sort out a dessert of some description.

I need to focus on getting the binding sorted for Niblets quilt.....strips cut need joining.

Sunday, April 18, 2021

Busy morning

Yesterday I made arrangements to go and look at a Vauxhall Corsa, so this morning we had to clean the Skoda, it was rather dirty, thats what happens when you live out in the sticks and covid closes the car washers. However its done now. We are both exhausted. I have to take various things for identification with me, test drives are unaccompanied, so they need to know who you are and where you live in case you do a runner with the car!!

We watched the TV coverage of Prince Philips funeral. A simple but moving service. I felt so sorry for HM The Queen having to sit on her own....it made the loss worse.

I need to get down to sorting out the binding for Niblets quilt, once I get it back I want it finished and away.

Supper tonight is roast Lamb and all the trimmings, we will finish off the trifle for dessert.

Saturday, April 17, 2021

Sunny but chilly

Lovely sun, warm in the house but cold out. DB is sowing seed and topping up his spuds that are growing in tubs.

A sad day for the world, but especially for the Royal family and The Queen. There is wall to wall coverage on TV from 11am. ours will stay off until 2pm, we will watch the service.

Quilt taken in yesterday, very nice lady, we spent a long time chatting about various people we knew and also places we had been to. She runs a fabric business as well as the long arm quilting. I have a feeling I have bought fabric from her before. I await a telephone call to say its ready sometime next week. I need to sort out the binding so I can get it on and arrange to get the quilt delivered, have put Little Miss's away for a couple of weeks.

Hair cut, feels much better, hairdresser is having to work Sunday mornings for the next 3 Sundays to fit everyone in.

My granddaughter is not happy, she has not got the choice of school she wanted for  Niblet, it makes it difficult for the childminder to pick him up, I think she is going to appeal.

Tonights supper is tomato and broccoli quiche and salad, will do some potato salad with it, strawberry trife for dessert.

End of another week.

This year seems to be slipping by, it would seem that our incarceration  is coming to and end........very slowly. DB and I mostly get on very well, we have our own opinions on various things, it can cause a bit of friction, but soon forgotten. Lockdown has been frustrating at times, thanks to neighbours family and grocery deliveries we have managed.

We did nip into Melton yesterday, Lidl had trailing geraniums for sale and there were a couple of things I had forgotten so we picked those up at the same time. I will have to keep my eyes open for Fuschia's later, a couple of trailing ones and upright ones for the tubs, We have some plants for the herbaceous border to go in. DB moved a rhubarb plant at the end of last year, so I have a big of bare soil to fill. There are also plants that can be spilt, not least the Solomons Seal which a friend sent me from Scotland when we moved here, its getting quite big.

I put the last obelisk together yesterday, the rose that is going to be trained round it is going mad, Thats a job maybe for tomorrow if the weather stays fine.

Usual fish and chips tonight, I bought a strawberry trifle, there is enough crumble left for one, I guess DB will opt for the trifle!!

Thursday, April 15, 2021

Cloudier

It was very sunny early on, but the cloud has begun to form again.

Towels washed and on the line, they should be about dry, so will fetch them in shortly.

We were a bit late getting up as we both read late last night. DB did half an hour in the garden, I picked some more rhubarb, took another 6 or 7 flowers off, have chopped up what I pulled and its in the freezer, there is going to be a lot more over the early summer. DB's tomato's on the window cill are putting up their secondary leaves, they will go in the back bedroom now until they are ready to either repot or plant out. The pear tree and the strawberries are flowering. I hope we do not get any frost.

Nothing much going on in the close, its very quiet. Our neighbours have gone down to their caravan to open it up hopefully for the summer.

I have arranged to take Niblets quilt in tomorrow. I also need a quick trip to Aldi to get the stuff I forgot yesterday. Think its time I started shopping myself again.

Chap has been to look at the apex of the roof where the cement under the tiles is coming out, the council are going to cover it with a plastic facia, its black, which will not do much for the house, the windows and doors are all white.....hey ho.

Chicken on the stove, we are having it with pasta and fresh baguette. more of the rhubarb crumble for dessert with some cream.

Wednesday, April 14, 2021

More of the same

Bright morning, load of whites in the washer, they will go on the line, yesterdays coloureds dried fine.

Quiet day for DB, he managed to shower and dress without help. A couple of walks up the garden and a lot of reading. By supper time he was fine. He ate a good supper, I can always tell when he is off, he always asks for small meals. He will return to his 'duties' tomorrow.

We are waiting for a call from the Dr.

I am hoping to take the quilt on Friday, just need to speak to the lady and make sure its convenient.

I need to go up the garden and pick some rhubarb, its going slightly mad. I will make a crumble for tonight, the rest will go in the outside freezer. I guess there will be a few bags by the end of the summer.

Supper tonight, cheese and onion frittata, with crumble and custard for dessert.

Tuesday, April 13, 2021

Bright morning

I am back in nurse mode for a couple of days. Collected DB just before 5pm, he was back in bed by 7.30 and asleep. I woke him at 9pm, when I went through to go to bed myself, with a cup of tea. We were both asleep by 10.15 and he slept the night through. I had  been awake since 5am yesterday so was pretty wacked myself. No idea what the chest pain was or why, tested his pacemaker all Ao.k. his palpitations had all been recorded. He says it has gone now!!

Breakfast in bed and then a shower, so he is up and dressed, how long for is anyones guess. He fell again yesterday morning, so another head scan before they decided it was better for him to be at home. I have to ring the Dr tomorrow to sort out some different medication for him.

So yesterday was a watch and wait day......cleaner and gardener both here, so clean house and tidy garden.

We will have Sundays pork dinner tonight, dessert, no idea.

Monday, April 12, 2021

No a good day

yesterday, just after lunch DB announced he had central chest pain, so off he went. He phoned to say he had not seen the Dr and then again when the Dr had been. They were puzzled.....another blood test ordered if it was clear he was coming home. 8 20pm phone, hospital had ordered a taxi on their account and he was on his way. 9pm he was back in the hospital. The taxi driver said he needed £40 up front, DB told his what the hospital had said, chap spoke to his office, no he had to pay, so DB got out and walked back to the ward, he collapsed, his BP 275......so he stayed the night. Should hear later if he is coming home........he has been diagnosed before with something costochondritis, a lot od Drs say it does not exist.......but something is causing the pain......

Bed linen changed, in the washer will go out on the line.....gardener just arrived, cleaner due.

My plans for the week are up in the air, I doubt I will be able to deliver the quilt tomorrow and may well have to cancel my click and collect.....depends how DB is when he gets home..... if he gets home.

No idea whats for supper, have some beef to casserole......will do that later.

Sunday, April 11, 2021

Its sunny but brrrr again.

The sun keeps coming and going. I have switched the heat off for an hour whilst the windows are open, I will close them later.

I finished trimming and pressing Niblets quilt, so its all folded up ready to go on Tuesday. I have sewn a nine patch in pink about to do a green one, when they are cut I will see how they will go together. 4 across and 5 down for this one, again it will go to be long arm quilted when its finished, so I just have to do the binding. I now have to put the Gtech over the floor to pick up all the bits.

Once again yesterday the programmes were all changed, we ended up watching two Wycliffes we had seen before, but some time ago.

Both the cleaner and gardener will be coming tomorrow morning, DB will be outside. We will be a little freer but it will not make much difference to us. I have an order to collect from Aldi on Wednesday, so a ride out for us both. DB usually comes with me.

Veggies are prepped for supper, roast pork etc...... thinking about a dessert.

Saturday, April 10, 2021

Sad day

Yesterday turned into a sad day at lunchtime, when news broke of Prince Phillips death. He will be missed especially by the Queen whom he supported for 73 years. RIP. I have to admit we did get a bit tired of wall to wall programmes on BBC & ITV, they cancelled all listed programmes for the day. We ended up watching recorded programmes.

I have no plans for today, apart from retrimming the quilt top and pressing it. I did a bit to much yesterday and suffered for it. I intend to take it steady today. My sewing room needs a tidy and I might just cut a couple of blocks for little miss's quilt, just to see how they will go together.

Its a bit of a grey morning, DB tells me rain is forecast and snow tomorrow!!! Brrrr.

We had a bad night, I did go off to sleep and then DB woke me up fidgeting, so it was tea and biccies. When I woke the alarm clock was flashing, we had a power outage during the night, It could not have been for long I checked the timer on the boiler and it was more or less OK.

Sausage, mash and beans tonight, there are peaches left so we will finish them off.

POETS

Yes its Friday again, Monday comes, it seems a long week and they boofff its Friday.

I did the freezer audit yesterday, moved some stuff from the outside freezer into the kitchen, just needed a chicken on the Aldi order.

All three wall cupboards cleaned out. Ashamed to say I have been some out of date stuff, smacked hand, I am supposed to be frugal!! Some of it was from when we were in Scotland!! So I just have one floor and one wall cupboard to do and the set of shelves that mu big storage jars sit on to do. The one wall cupboard has my crystal glass which we use regularly in.

I had a sad accident the other day. DB had brought in a jonquil which had been felled by the wind. I put it in one of my small single flower vases. It was on the kitchen table. It got moved to the side of the microwave, when I shut the door a jar that was drying on the top, toppled over and smashed the top of the vase........very sad it was one I got from a charity shop, made by Edinburgh Crystal. Doubt if I will ever find another one.

De constructing the quilt, foolishly I used 505 to position the back, so the backing fabric and also the wadding is sticky. It looks as though I will have to get new wadding and backing fabric.......I doubt it will go through the rollers on the long arm. I am going to speak to the lady that is doing it as I will have to wait until the fabric comes.

Fish and chips tonight, DB requested tinned peaches and ice cream and thats what he has got for dessert.

So sad to see the announcement of the death of Prince Phillip. A great loss to our country and to the world.

Thursday, April 8, 2021

Another day

another dollar!!

Wind has dropped, and a very weak sun is trying to come through, DB is muttering about going out to the garden.

I am deconstructing the quilt for it to go to be done on the long arm. I should have done it in the first place.

A freezer audit is required to see what I need on my next order, both freezers are in a bit of a mess, need sorting out and some stuff can come into the freezer in the kitchen once I have the drawers tidy.

Decorating the bedroom has come to the fore again, it really does need doing, I need to make plans for that a bit later in the year, once I am sure everything will fall into place. I am trying to decide whether to get our pine furniture painted with chalk pain or replace it. I also need to go through the wardrobe and dispose of clothes that we no longer wear. DB has put on weight, so his old trousers do not fit him.

Minced beef for supper with veggies, I need to sort out a dessert of some sort.

Wednesday, April 7, 2021

Brrrrr again

It is sunny but my goodness its cold...... went out to the outside freezer and gosh it was cold.

I have had to admit defeat on Niblets quilt, it is going to be long arm quilted, It was just too big and I have pulled a muscle in my chest trying to get it through the machine. I will never make another large quilt again. I had so  much aggro with that one. Little misses, is big blocks but much smaller and it will go to the same lady again for quilting. She is in Leicester, so I can take it to her when its ready. I will save it for Little Miss's birthday.

So I unpicked the stitching last night and started to take it to bits, I need to iron the quilt top and backing and fold it all up. Going on Tuesday morning.

Coffee morning starts today, we will go round and see what is what. I do not think that J & R will be there, they have refused the injections and will not wear face masks. If they did turn up I think DB would walk out. We have come this far........

We did get a flurry of snow yesterday afternoon, but it did not last or settle, then the sun came out and it was a nice evening, very cold though, DB said the car was frosted when we went to bed.

Supper tonight is beef casserole with veg. Will have to do a rummage for a dessert.

Update..

Coffee morning was socially distanced, just a few of us there, but so nice to see friends we have not seen for such a long time. It is still very cold, although the sun is shining there is no heat in it at all except through the sitting room window.

Tuesday, April 6, 2021

Brrrr

We did not get any snow yesterday, the afternoon turned out quite sunny. Its sunny this morning but DB says its just 1 this morning. Do not think he will be going out to the garden.

His seeds on the window cill have started to grow. I looked at the hydrangea cutting this morning, to my surprise there are two tiny flower buds showing........once the weather has warmed up I will check and see if it wants repotting and then it can go out in a sheltered spot to grow on. I may actually not put it in the garden but keep it as a pot plant on the back patio.

I need to go up to the PO this morning, also need a chat with the garage man, he mentioned something about the engine mountings when he last had the car in, will see what he has to say. I really do not want to loose my engine on the road. I need the car to last for another few years.

I started to machine quilt Niblets quilt and ripped it all out, did not like it, I am almost decided on hand quilting it just round each of the blocks. I need to find my quilting hoop I am sure its in the wardrobe in the sewing room, pretty confident I have not got rid of it.

Supper tonight will be shepherds pie and veg. Rasps in jelly finished so will see what else I can conjure up.

Monday, April 5, 2021

Wot snow?

We do not have snow yet but DD2 who lives 9 miles away had what she called a sprinkling earlier. It is certainly cold enough. Such a change from yesterday, sunny although the wind made it feel colder.

Cleaner is here this morning, so need to be on the ball a bit, I want to do at least one pass on the quilt........watch out for purple air!!

I have someone interested in the Bernina machine I have. It does not have a tool box and only has the general sewing foot with it. I have an adapter for it to be fitted with screw on feet, but have not found a source that is not in China for a set of the feet. I did price up a set of feet from Bernina it came to £350.00.....sorry no way. I would never get that back if I sell it. I am not a charity!!

Some chicken left from yesterday, may do chicken sarnie for lunch. I have to put a loaf on, but think I have enough bread in the freezer for a couple of rounds filled with chicken mayo.

Cleared out one of my kitchen cupboards, all nice and clean and tidy. I now have to gird my loins to do the food cupboard above it......will then move on to what we call the tea and coffee cupboard. Cleaner is due this morning.

Laundry on, it will have to go in the dryer, no way am I putting it out, its arctic out there.

Frittata, jacket potato, tomato and celery salad for supper, we will finish off the raspberries in jelly for dessert.

I counted 13 easter eggs, hope he did not try to eat them all at once!!!

Sunday, April 4, 2021

Easter Sunday

Picture of Niblet this morning 13 easter eggs......

A bright day, windows open and heat off for a while at least, Originally we were forecast snow today, so glad it did not happen, although I think there was a frost. We had our usual Sunday brekkie, managed feet to the floor just before 10am.

No Sunday lunch out for us today, home cooking as usual.....it will be much appreciated when we can go out for lunch again.

We spent a quiet day yesterday and I guess it will be more of the same today, Our cleaner called in with a card and a small Maltesers easter bunny, first chocolate for ages, such a nice gesture.

I guess DB will be out in the garden shortly for a bit of a fuddle. He overstayed his time yesterday, I had to call him in. He really knows himself when he is getting tired and should come in.

Gearing myself up to start work on the quilt tomorrow, I must have been made to make it so big. I no longer have a machine with a big throat to take the rolled up side.

So veggies prepared, roast chicken for supper and more of the raspsberries in jelly for dessert.

Saturday, April 3, 2021

Another grey day

The sky is very grey this morning, it did ease up yesterday afternoon, we had a couple of hours of very weak sun, but it was still brrrrrr.

I guess DB will be out in the garden shortly, its cold, so he will need to wrap up. Me? I am staying in the warm.

I need to sort out the sewing room ready to start quilting Niblets quilt. I have the ironing board against the table to rest the quilt on, its going to be fun (not).

We had a message yesterday from the little chapel, the coffee mornings are to resume next Wednesday, so we will walk round, we have both had our second jabs. It will be good to see friends again after such a long while. Not sure if it will be outside.

Nothing really planned for today, although there is a cupboard in the kitchen that really needs sorting, it has got into a bit of a mess. Trouble is I have to get down on my knees, then cannot get up again, ah fun!!

Supper tonight is beef casserole from the freezer with veggies. I have a few raspberries left so will put them in a jelly.

Friday, April 2, 2021

Good Friday

Its a reasonably normal Friday here, although our neighbour is at home as its a bank holiday. They have a little grandson, Grandad has just brought him home from a ride round on his pint sized motor bike. Grandad is a motor bike fiend, I guess he brought the bike.

It was a grey morning, but since lunch time it has brightened up a bit, its still blooming cold though.

I made another batch of scones, these are much better, the others, they were put out for the birds........

DB spent some time in the garden this morning, he said it was very cold out there, soon him than me!!

No plans for the holiday, normally we would have gone out for lunch on Easter Sunday, no chance, but once we are let out of prison things are going to alter. We are going to go out somewhere at least once a month and make sure we go out for Sunday lunch as well. I have also applied for a rail card, being deaf I get a  card and if DB travels with me he also goes for 1/3rd off the cost of his ticket. I would love to be able to go to London, but I dare not take the risk. Neither of us can walk as far as we used to, and DB's health is, at the best, precarious. so it will be trips locally in the car, even if its only to sit by a lake and have a picnic.

I have booked a weekend break in an hotel near Caister in June Its DB's birthday. We are still going to Yorkshire in September.

Fish and chips tonight.......cheese cake for dessert.

Brrr

Pinch an'a punch for the first of the month

The lovely weather has gone and its brrrr again, DB read out the forecast for Sunday 'snow'.

We are off on a bit of a jolly to the garden centre to get bits that DB needs for the garden and also look at pebbles etc for the fountain. The cafe is closed so we will not be dining out at lunchtime. Will come home and eat.

I went over to spend some time with my elderly neighbour. She is depressed, only to be expected, having been shielding for over 12 months. I was not able to go over as I usually due during the lockdown which was eased on Monday. I think the time is fast approaching when she is going to need care of some description. She is in a lot of pain with her back. As she has difficulty walking its difficult to get around.

DB spent a while in the garden yesterday, he has planted his tomato seeds, they are on the window cill in the sitting room.

Delivery from Morrison yesterday almost £60.....I am going to try and go back to click and collect at Aldi for my next shop.

Supper tonight is frittata with salad and possibly cheese cake.
