August Bank Holiday Monrday

and despite the forecast we have sun, not been out so not sure how cold it really is, again yesterday the heat went on for a while, it was so cold. Saw in the paper yesterday the forecast is for high temperatures next week, freezing one week, boiling the next, the weather is certainly changing.

Managed at last to sew the binding on the last mats yesterday, they have been staring balefully at me for the last week. So I am working on something else now, not sure if its going to work, will have to see.

No plans for today, we very rarely go out on Bank holidays and as the car is still waiting for the garage to re-open we will not be going anywhere soon. Just hope we do not need it in a hurry.

Supper tonight will be the rest of yesterdays chicken with veggies, dessert is on the back burner just now.

Another cold day

Yesterday I was so cold at one point I was shivering, so on went the heating for an hour. The sun is making an appearance now and then, but its still quite cold. Autumn is on its way. The dry weather has affected quite a bit of the garden, the blackberries have withered away as have the courgette and cucumber plants despite being flooded with water. We did have some rain during the afternoon, and the light was on in the sitting room before 8 pm....uggg, dark nights on their way. Have put off having the grass cut until next week.

Veg etc prepped for supper, we are having roast chicken, not made my mind up about a dessert as yet, there are two choc ices in the freezer, may well have those.

DB was out in the garden for about 3/4 of an hour yesterday, he was pinning down strawberry runners, something we do each year. We have requests for 24 plants from DD2 and our cleaner. We need 36 runners to root, we need 12 ourselves.

Not too happy, tried to download an update for my machine and it will not download, says there is no app on the computer that will open it???? beats me.......

Bad night last night first one since DB came home. 2 am and I was still awake. Usual Sunday breakfast in bed, so we were late getting up.

Cold

I was so cold yesterday we put the fire on in the sitting room, this morning is little better, my hands are freezing now. It comes to something when you have to put the electric blanket on in August!!

We had several very heavy downpours yesterday and the wind got up, its still blowing this morning the trees in the garden at the back are dancing about, no garden work for me today. I did manage yesterday to get quite a few of the screws out of the arch, but some were very stubborn, I guess they are rusted in. DB managed to break one or two bits off. I took the cuttings from the roses yesterday, need to dig a trench now and put them in, they need to be buried at least 3" deep, so will possibly put them in tone of the veg beds until they have rooted.

Our garage seems to be closed, possibly the chap is away on holiday will see if anyone is working on Tuesday, I really need to get the problem with the exhaust system fixed in case I need the car.

No plans for today except to keep warm, it must have been cold yesterday the boiler switched the rads on.

Request for sausage and mash tonight, we will finish up the crumble from the other night.

Its a bank holiday weekend

and guess what, its raining although its not expected to last, tomorrow should be fine.

I had an order from Morrison yesterday, it should have arrived between 4 - 5 pm. We eventually got it at 8.30 pm. There had been a problem with their system going down. Thanks to the driver who apologised profusely, poor chap it was not his fault.

At last I got my hair cut, so no longer look like the wicked witch of the west.  What a palava though, masks, plastic aprons which I was given to bring home with  me, hands sanitized and also the cash when I paid.

nothing much going on, no gardening as its raining, I will go out tomorrow and see if I can find a couple of decent cuttings from the roses on the arch and try to grow them in a potato.

Supper tonight id fish and chips with more of the apple and blackberry crumble for dessert.

Hairdressers

I have an appointment at lunchtime, my hair has grown approx 4" during lock down. My neighbour likes it longer, but it has thinned out so much I look like the wicked witch of the west, it also starts to curl which I hate, will be so glad to get it off!!

DB had a good day yesterday, I managed to cut the thick stem of the roses with the loppers, and the arch is now lying on the grass. I am going to take 2 cuttings from the roses and see if I can root them in a potato, that way we can get the roots dug out of the old ones. DB picked beans and restaked his tomato's, we also found 3 strawberries!! Lots of runners we need to pot up 24 at some point.

Apart from the short time in the garden we had a restful day, I did not want him racing round trying to catch up with everything.

Two loads of laundry done. I now have shirts to iron, whilst DB was not able to lift his left arm above his head he had been wearing short sleeved shirts. Now he has had his pacemaker check he is free to do anything except play golf.......not a problem, he hates golf.

Request for supper, frittata and salad with potato salad. We picked up some fallers from the apple tree, I still have blackberries in the freezer from last year. So apple and blackberry crumble for dessert tonight.

Home

I collected OH yesterday afternoon after arranging for him to be brought to the South Door where I was waiting in the car, we arrived home at 4.30pm.

I was shattered after having a bad night Monday, we were in bed just after 9am and both slept through, although I had to get up to the toilet, it was after 8am when I finally got my feet to the floor.

We had shocking news from a friend in Scotland, her 3 year old grandson has leukemia, he is to have a 6 week course of chemo. So worrying for them all. K lost her husband late last year, so a real blow for her.

The wind yesterday has loosened the apple tree,, I guess we are going to have to do something about it. I also need to get someone to help me get the arch up off the floor, the roses on it make it very heavy so I am going to have to cut them off. Thank fully the wind has dropped. It was pretty horrendous during the evening.

Laundry in, its going in the dryer, the forecast is for rain and its very cloudy just now.

Supper tonight will be the mince and dough balls we should have had last night. Just need to make the dough balls, DB had a cooked lunch at the hospital, so we had tuna and cucumber sandwiches and yogurt instead of supper.

Another storm

Close on the heels of the high winds at the weekend, the wind is back and we have heavy rain. I am hoping it does not cause too many problems as hopefully DB is being discharged today.

He phoned me just after 8am, very chipper.........he has his medication but needs his discharge letter, he is going to make enquiries about how I go about getting him. I have put out his rain coat, he will need it.

Another bad night, so tonight will have to be early to bed, if it continues I will be sleeping in the sewing room until my sleep pattern returns to normal. At least I can put the light on and read.

I was going to do another load of laundry, yesterday I got the bed linen washed, dried and ironed!!! yes ironed.

Two sets of mats to sew the binding down on, I seem to be loosing my quilting skills a bit, I guess because I am not using them, had a problem with binding the two smaller mats, rather than join them in the usual way I had to fold over the edge and tuck one piece inside the other. Its not so neat as the way I usually do them.

DB has asked for mince and dough balls for supper, so I will start cooking the mince shortly. will also prep the veg.

Monday, August 24, 2020

Monday again.

Phone call just after 8.30 this morning, all patients have been told to stay in bed until the Drs have done their rounds. Not much else to report except that he had a good night. I had just got out the shower......not expecting to hear from him until lunchtime re the Doctors.

It does not seem as windy this morning, have not been out, hope there is enough breeze to dry the laundry, bed has been stripped ready for remaking when my cleaning lady comes.

Not a lot going on.....its peaceful in the close and the frantic harvesting activity seems to have finished, less traffic on the lane.

No idea what's for supper, will make my mind up later, I should have salad or something, although I do have some big potato's I could have a jacket spud and cheese. Will see what I fancy later.

Update:

DB is coming home tomorrow, I am going to go in and collect him when he has all his kit etc. They have increased his medication and if he get further episodes of AF our GP can increase the dose. He does not have to go back into hospital !!! Hooray.

Sunday, August 23, 2020

another day

in the daily round. DB now has a telephone attached to his bed, so he can ring me. He is in the same ward I was in 5 years ago. He managed to sprawl on the floor yesterday, over reached for a drink and ended up on his knees.....so he is bed bound again.

I spent yesterday afternoon sewing, after all the problems I had with the fabric ruckling in the hoop, yesterday hardly ruckled at all, so I plan to do a second one today. I am so fed up with just sitting about reading. They are for two mats for my neighbour to go with the runner I gave her last year.

The wind has died down, I really could do with doing dome laundry, but there is not really enough for a full load so it will have to wait. Its bed change day tomorrow.

I have finished the embroidery on the  mats, just have to put them together now.

I have a chicken breast out for my supper today, I may have rice with it rather than vegetables. I have not been having a dessert.

Saturday, August 22, 2020

A bit calmer

all round, the wind was something else yesterday, the arch has fallen yet again, so its coming out and no being replaced. Will have to find something else for the roses to climb up. I am going to cut them right back anyway. Quite a lot of damage in the garden.....

I had a 50 mile round trip into the hospital to take clean clothes for DB, he phones last night he is being moved to another ward so they can free a bed in CDU, its not a long term ward......he will ring later this morning when he has seen the Dr.

Thankfully the wind has dropped a bit this morning, I need to try and get out to the garden and sort out the arch at least, I am just going to cut the roses close to the bottom and pull the arch out onto the lawn. The sweet peas have been disasterous this year so they too are coming out, I plan to empty the pot, we need to put a heavyweight in the bottom of the pots to prevent them from being blown over in the wind. I may well transfer the lilies into the sweet pea pot.

W came yesterday and brought me half a tray of eggs from the farm, so henny penny is full again. need to wait and see whats happening re DB before I sort the supper, I doubt he will be coming home until Monday at the earliest.

No idea what I am having for supper.........

Friday, August 21, 2020

Another disaster

just after 12.30 lunchtime yesterday, DB announced he had palpitations, so back on the roundabout again, he is in Glenfield whilst they see if they can find a medication to keep them in check. I am really getting cheesed off with having to go through his conditions etc everytime something goes wrong. I had a job to persuade the crew to ring Glenfield rather than take him to  LRI.

He phoned me about 9.45 pm to say he was waiting to see the senior cardiologist........the plaps had gone off about 7.30 pm, he then rang later, the palps had started again so they are looking to see what he can have. The drug he was on before apparently  causes problems in older people, which is why they took him off them and used something else, which his stomach objected to.

Needless to say I did not sleep too well last night, had about 4 hours, doubt I will get a Nana nap later.

Its a very windy morning, the sun keeps coming and going. I am hoping they do not discharge DB today, I really want to be sure that his condition is under control, but I have promised to go in and collect him if he comes home. I have a couple of people coming, my cleaner is bringing half a tray of eggs and a lady is coming to collect our old phones. My cleaner can let herself in but the other lady, I will have to leave a note on the door for her if I get the call. Expecting to hear from DB after the Drs rounds this morning.

Watch this space.

Still no joy with Sainsbury

tried several times yesterday.

We had a call at 10.30 am from the Pastor of the little chapel. He is holding coffee mornings first and third Wednesday of the month, would we like to go round. I took DB round in the car.....it was great to see many of our friends at last and exchange 'lock down' stories. All of them are looking good!!. The only people who were not there were our friends from Stathern. J is very reluctant to go out and gets a panic attack if she has to wear a mask.

R did phone later to speak to DB about their rhubarb and said they are decorating. Strangely we too had been talking about doing our bedroom and changing the carpet. We will need to put the furniture in store for 10 days whilst its done. It will have to wait until later in the year, we need to sort the herbaceous bed first.

I sorted the other flat sheet yesterday, its in to go for a wash and then go away until the next heatwave.

DB is champing at the bit to get back into the garden. I have told him he can go out for a short while this morning, we are forecast a storm with high winds so he wants to tie up the tomato's. I got him some more of the clips he likes.

Today's harvest, 2 windfall apples, one tomato one cucumber and a handful of green beans.

DB has elected to have gammon, egg, tomato and fried bread for his supper tonight. we only have one egg, so I will have extra tomato. My cleaner is getting a tray of eggs tomorrow so we are splitting the tray between us. She gets them from the local farm.

Update

I did manage at last to get through to Sainsbury after a 25 minute wait. Money for the apples refunded in an e coupon to use against my next order. Hooray.

Wednesday, August 19, 2020

Is it just me?

I have been trying to get through to Sainsbury for over 24 hours, keep getting cut off  due to 'more calls than usual'. I had an order delivered yesterday. One bag was full of cream........due to bad packing. Actually I am surprised it has not happened before. Driver scanned the item and last night I received a message saying the money was being refunded. When we checked the list there were no Braeburn apples. OK its only £1.60 but times that by the number of deliveries they do.......... I have tried without any joy to contact them on the phone, even down to ringing the local store, no way....... I am not going to expose myself unnecessarily to C19 by going into town for £1.60 its not worth it, but even if I have to ring for days I am having that money back.

Right, thats off my chest.....yesterday was a busy day one way or another, I was very tired last night, for once had a reasonable night. So feel slightly better this morning. Towels dried on the line, the wind got up after lunch so they had not dried 'hard'. The casserole last night was delicious.....enough in the freezer for another meal.

DB continues to make progress he actually finished the washing up at breakfast this morning.......which is a step forward. He also spent a while yesterday with L, who did a great job weeding the garden for us.

I need to get back into the sewing mindset. I have another sheet to sort, it was even bigger than the white one I did last week. That 'time of the year' is also creeping up, so need to sort out and finish off presents. I did send two off to their new home last week.

Supper tonight will be frittata and salad, lemon sponge for dessert I think.

Sunshine

but for how long, rain was forecast for 9am, its 9.30 and the sun is shining.....towels in the washer, hope to get them dry on the line.

Lady coming to weed the herbaceous bed this morning, cleaner  is also due and we have a grocery delivery this afternoon, so its all go here.

We had several heavy showers yesterday, so no need to water the garden, apparently we are due more today. It will take quite a bit of rain to soak the ground.

DB is making progress, he is gradually picking up his 'little jobs' which is a great relief for me, he has a week to go before his appointment at the clinic to check his pacemaker. He still gets tired which is only to be expected.

I have a bit of ironing to do, the sheet from last week and also a shirt of DB's. He tells me he is going to try wearing tee shirts, which is his usual garb around the house. hopefully he can manage without having to lift his arm over his head.

I have taken stewing beef out of the freezer, going to do a beef casserole for supper tonight. We finished the jelly last night, so need to sort out a dessert, possibly ice cream.

Monday, August 17, 2020

and more rain

Several very heavy showers today,  did not last long and then the sun was out again.

Lady came this morning who is going to weed the herbaceous bed and also the front if she has enough time. She will come tomorrow, so its going to be a busy day.

My cleaner has been away for the weekend, travelling back today, so coming in the morning, have also got a delivery from Sainsbury in the afternoon.

Coloured load done, I put them in the dryer, it was tipping it down outside. I hope to do the towels tomorrow, according to the forecast we are going to have a fine day.

Supper tonight will be egg, wedges and beans as requested by DB. Rapsberry jelly for dessert.

Sunday, August 16, 2020

We have rain!!!

Looked out this morning and the ground was wet, we have what DB would call a smurr, very fine rain, but its raining so I will not have to water!!!

The sky is grey and the rain is to continue through tomorrow, thunderstorms are a possibility for tonight. I just hope we do not have the torrential rain that some parts have, we live below a steep hill, although we cannot see it this morning for the mist. Obviously the water drains down and we are the first part of the village it hits.

It would destroy me if we got flooded out.

DB is getting stronger each day and picking up the reins a bit, making cups of tea etc, which gives me a break.

We had our usual Sunday brekkie, did not put a foot over the side of the bed until after 8.45 so it was 10 am before we got in the shower.

Prepped the veg for tonight, Pork steaks, roast spuds and hg veg. Raspberries in jelly for dessert.

6PM the sky is as black as night and the rain is slinging it down in more than bucket fulls..........

Saturday, August 15, 2020

Rain?

Once again we are forecast heavy rain, we have not seen any rain at all over the past days and there are doubts we will see any today. I would be glad of the rain for 2 reasons: I would not have to water the garden and the rain would clear the oppressive atmosphere. It is a lot cooler but there is still the 'muggyness' in the air.

Nothing planned for today, we were late waking up today, so late getting going. I have cut out a couple of table mats from some excess fabric I had, need to quilt and bind them.

Request for tonights supper sausage and mash. I will make a raspberry jelly for dessert.

Friday, August 14, 2020

end of another week

3 weeks today since DB got his pacemaker....... they seem to have been very long weeks.

Another cool morning, yesterday the sun shone briefly at about 6pm and then darkness descended quite quickly, we thought it might rain, but no such luck.

No plans for the day, every day is much of a muchness just now.

Supper tonight is the usual fish and chips, there are two slices of chocolate cake left which will do for dessert.

Thursday, August 13, 2020

Phew....

glad its cooler this morning, yesterday was awful, went out at 8pm to water and it was very oppressive. We did not manage to sleep until after 2am, so a very late start this morning. The cloud cover we have is supposed to last until late this morning, I really hope it is not as hot as yesterday. For the first time I felt the heat really got to me, I was glad to sit with the fan moving the air.

I phoned yesterday and gave back word re DB having someone to help him get up, he feels he does not need it, he is managing ok on his own.

I am waiting to hear that the quilting frame has reached its new owner, I thought it might get there yesterday, after all its less than 40 miles away, however no such luck.

I ought to do the last bit of ironing whilst it is relatively cool, really do not know if I can be bothered though.

Whilst I was watering DB tied up the tomato's, the garden is full of weeds, no way can either of us tackle it, so I have advertised for someone to do 3 hours weeding, no idea if we will get anyone. We are having the garden altered at the end of September. the shrubs at the back of the border will stay, the whole border is to be covered with weed proof membrane and then cotswold stone to about 3 inches, plants like the roses will stay, I will save some of the plants and bulbs that are in the garden and plant them in pots.......it will mean having to water in the summer, but hopefully it will stop some of the weeds. Any we find coming up can easily pull up. I may well have the same done to the front in the spring when I have some more cash.

Supper tonight the rest of the quiche from yesterday with salad. a small slice of chocolate cake for dessert.

Wednesday, August 12, 2020

scorching

well it did not stay cool for long yesterday, by 11am the sun was blasting down and continued all day, it was horrible outside.

The laundry dried on the line so it was folded and put away apart from DB's shirts, he is finding wearing shirts easier than tee shirts at the moment. I will do some of the ironing today, leave the big duvet cover till tomorrow.

I had a call yesterday to say that we would be getting help with him from Monday, just in the morning to get him up, showered etc. I will have them for just a month, by then he should be well back on his feet.

His walking is getting better, yesterday he went for his siesta but was up until 10pm. By the time we had supper I was really tired.

Not a lot going on today, so once I have done the ironing depending on how DB is I may do a bit of sewing.

Something with salad for supper, I will also use up some raspberries and make a raspberry jelly.

DB tells me it is not to be so hot today and we may get storms, I will wait and see, rain certainly would be welcome, it would save me watering, but knowing that it could chuck it down it will most likely just run off!!

Update...+

DB has decided that he does not need help, I felt he was feeling that he might go backwards, he has made good progress. I phoned and cancelled the visit.

Guess who turned up this afternoon.....Hermes to collected a parcel that went by post yesterday, I was fed up with waiting. I will never use them again.

It is far to hot to do anything but sit in the cool, I went up the garden to check the tomato's the heat was very oppressive. I have told DB not to go out in it. I did do the shirts and pillow cases but have left the sheet and duvet cover till tomorrow, it was getting uncomfortable hot.

Tuesday, August 11, 2020

cooler this morning

for how long is another matter. Yesterday was punishingly hot, even when I went out to water around 7pm it was what my mother would have called muggy........

The chap who made our blinds called yesterday he came at lunchtime to fit them. We have blinds in the sitting room and front and back bedrooms, They did a great job yesterday keeping the back bedroom (sewing room) cool.

Another day the parcel has not been picked up. I am taking it to the PO this morning to see if they will take it, so fed up with carriers.

Load of coloured laundry in, hopefully it will dry,  apparently we could have rain later....we could do with a storm to clear the air.

I had a quiet day yesterday. Flowers from DD1. DD2 had already sent a gift card, a cake from our travelling pastor friends, although I doubt they will be travelling ever again. J was 70 in July and has been badly affected by the  lock down, very nervous about going out where there are crowds of people. My SIL phoned last evening to ask if I had a nice day.

DB is making progress he actually dried up the dishes from supper last night, so he must be feeling better. He is walking up and down the garden a couple of times a day, problem is he comes in and tells me what needs doing, hard luck, looking after him and watering is quite enough thank you, it takes me an hour to do it properly. I did see we have quite a few tomato's coming, need to keep my eye on them, we also look like getting a reasonable apple crop from the small tree. There are a couple of very big apples I may take off and use to make an apple and blackberry crumble. I have blackberries in the freezer from last year.

Smoked haddock with a poached egg for supper. Finished the swiss roll last night so I think dessert will be a slice of the chocolate cake from our friends. I am trying not to eat between meals just now, so the cake will make a very acceptable dessert.

Monday, August 10, 2020

No storms for us

or so it seems. According to DB they will by pass us. All I know is that its blooming hot this morning, there is a breeze but not doing much good.

Still no courier, I an going to have to reprint the labels and see if the post office will take it.......I am very cross, no way of getting through to  a service agent, just a talking machine.

Phone call early this morning the chap is coming to put up the blinds, he had a problem with his van last week, he will be here over lunchtime.

Cleaner doing her usual excellent job, she has also helped me to move the table with the embroidery machine on, I have taken the unit off so it was a bit lighter.

Bed linen on the line. I measured the flat sheet and have cut 12" off the side seam, just have to hem it before I put it in a white wash.

Supper tonight will be cold lamb with a jacket spud and maybe tomato salad. We have cake for dessert. My friend sent me a chocolate cake with my card.

Ella, pit stop in play, need to recharge the energy.

Sunday, August 9, 2020

Hmmm grey morning

Another hot day yesterday, fan in the sitting room on for most of the day. This morning we are under a bank of cloud which  means its cooler. The sun is due to break through at lunchtime and tomorrow storms are forecast. Hey ho.

Grocery delivery coming this morning, nearly collapsed a half shoulder of lamb almost £10, good job I make it do several meals....

Parcel is still sitting in the hall, I will be on the phone tomorrow, 4 days since I put the order in for collection......not happy. I will be looking for someone else to take parcels.

DB walked up the garden on his own last night, he also washed up the mugs from our late night drink, I put them away this morning.  He is getting stronger by the day.

I have finished the second fabric bowl, have enough fabric left to make 2 smaller ones or pot holders. I then need to think about mats for my neighbour.

So supper tonight, roast lamb, and potatoes, cauli and broccoli. More of the cappucchino  swiss roll for dessert I think.

Saturday, August 8, 2020

ooppss

Sorry, late posting today. Yesterday I had made arrangements for a parcel to be collected, no show......I rang the couriers and they said it would be collected today....we will see.

What did arrive was my techy with my repaired plate, I did not recognise him, I thought he had come for the parcel......

It was so hot yesterday, just a quick foray into the garden, went out after 7pm to water, the ground just soaked it up, no sign this morning of me having watered. I picked some beans, we should have been having gammon, egg, tomato and fried bread, but I have run out of eggs, so we are having the gammon grilled with creamed potato, green beans, carrot and parsley sauce. I have some of the cappucchino  swiss roll left so we will have a slice of that with the last choc ice in the freezer cut in half

It was very warm sleeping last night, I kept waking up......we just had the top sheet on the bed, the duvet and quilt were folded up on a chair.......... Its bed change day on Monday.

Another quiet day, I have downloaded more books to read. Will be glad if the mobile library starts up again next month.

Fans on in both the sitting room and the bedroom, it just stirs the air up a bit.

Friday, August 7, 2020

Today

is forecast to be a scorcher, at 9am its already pretty warm, Front curtains closed back door open till the sun moves round onto the back.

DB still in bed, I am up, Hermes coming this morning to pick up a parcel. I had a lap quilting hoop, one with a solid bottom you can rest on your knees to leave both hands free. Had never used it, so put an advert on one of the groups I am on. It has sold so will be on its way to a new owner today. Its not easy wrappiing a round hoop, its well padded with some old wadding, I had a very large plastic bag so its gone in that and been taped to glory. I hope she can get into it when it arrives!!

Nothing special happened yesterday, cooked some beetroot out of the garden, sliced and in vinegar and water, in a jar in the fridge. DB did walk up the garden, picked a couple of small tomato's and also more beans, we need rain. I will have to water tonight.

No real plans for today, I am waiting to hear from the chap who is making the blinds, I need to move things so he can get to the windows to put them up. It will be a good job done.

Spoke to Tim yesterday about an adapter for the Bernina machine, it has a sloped fitting for the feet. I want to sell it, but need the adapter so it can use short shank feet to replace the feet that are missing.

Fish and chips tonight, no idea whats for dessert as yet.

Thursday, August 6, 2020

What happened?

No idea what happened but although the sun was shining the wind was quite strong.

DB had a moment last night, he was using the pepper mill to put pepper on his supper when the centre of the mill disintegrated and covered his plate with peppercorns!! I managed to get most of them off....

It was very misty first thing, but the sun keeps trying to come through, no laundry to do.

DB was up for most of yesterday, we went to bed about 8.45pm and read.

I watered the garden yesterday, it was very dry and the tomato's were wilting a bit. Will have to water tomorrow night if we do not get rain.

Supper tonight, liver, bacon and veg, fresh fruit for dessert.

Wednesday, August 5, 2020

Its going to be hot.....

but at 6am, it was distinctly chilly.

Usual breakfast in bed, managed up by 9.15. DB had a call from a fellow patient who was in hospital with him, they were in beds opposite each other. Next week he is going to have to get up for his breakfast...... and the week after its back to as normal as normal can be.

Sun is up so curtains drawn, once the temperature starts to climb it will be fans on. They did not seem to add much to the electric reading last week.

The covid count is going up in Melton, people are so stupid, Market day the town is heaving and no one wearing a mask. I have made my mind up, much as I like Aldi I am going to be shopping from Sainsbury and Morrison for the foreseeable future. Its more expensive which goes against my frugal soul, but......not having to do the shop, load it into bags, in and out of the car and then put it away, wears me out. All we have to do with the delivery is empty the bags and put it away. Si I guess the extra expense is worth it.

Nothing planned, DB stayed up till 9pm after his supper, there was a programme he wanted to watch on TV. I was shattered from my sleepless night, was asleep by 10.30.

Supper tonight is sausage and mash with the left over beans from Monday. I put them in the gravy with the sausages to heat up. We still have some fresh fruit, so will have that for dessert.

Tuesday, August 4, 2020

so

on we go, the efforts have improved since I thew my toys out the pram, he does it every time, really annoys me. I really dislike getting cross with him, but have no choice. There are times when the fact that he was an amatuer actor come to the fore.......

Call this morning to the chemist to ensure he gets his new tablets...I need to nip down later and put the scripts in, will do it whilst he has his siesta.

The refund for the cooker has at last hit my account, so September will be a light bill when the refund is taken off.

Coloured wash done, its on the line but we keep getting spots of rain, its very overcast, will leave it until after lunch, there is quite a breeze, so it may dry off a bit.

Went to the PO to send the parcel off to the techie, should get it back in a week or so.

Bad night last night, DB was complaining that his gums hurt, I made him put bonjela on, it seems to have taken the pain out......I hope its not an abcess, the dentist is not working.

Supper tonight is mac and cheese with a green salad.  fresh fruit for dessert.I picked our first cucumber yesterday, there are more courgette coming, and the tomato's are starting to ripen up. I have picked a couple of boilings of green beans, keeping my eye on the french beans too.

DB is complaining again, he is having stomach problems again, I need to up his medication. He was much better yesterday and up for quite a while, although we were both in bed by 8.30pm.

Towels washed and on the line, weather is a bit iffy, sun one minute cloud the next, we really need the rain, to tomato's need watering and also feeding, so it will be back to watering cans.

Its all go here

DB got a talking to yesterday, I can take so much and then its talk time.

Our router went down last night so DB was stuffed he could not read his book on borrow box.......I reset the router but could not get the internet back, had to phone this morning, its up and running ok now.

I have scrambled about on my knees this morning and connected the new phone. I am waiting for the main phone to charge up so I can put our frequently used numbers in. I guess that will be a leaning curve for both of us.

Stepson rang to see how his Dad was, moaning as usual.......nothing ever goes right for him.

Its sort of sunny, keeps going dull, no rain forecast, we could really do with it, the garden is very dry.

DB is having chicken for supper, there is a lone prok chop so I am gooing to have that with roast spuds and veg. Fresh fruit for dessert.

Pinch an' a punch

for the first of the month.

DB slept for most of the morning, I got him up and showered and he stayed up until about 7.30pm, nothing on TV so we both went to bed. I was conscious that I drifted off for about an hour. We settled down to sleep around 11pm. It was such a hot day and despite having the curtains closed both the sitting room and the bedroom were uncomfortably warm, so fans on.

It did turn a lot cooler and I pulled the quilt up over the sheet about 5.30am and then went back to sleep.

We did have a rain storm later yesterday so I went out and checked the beans tomato's and courgette, pick enough beans for supper tonight.

I am intending to get DB up for a wash in a short while, will have to see hoe the day goes. I have a new telephone system to set up....there may be blue air at some point.

Liver and sausage for supper, with veggies, fresh fruit for dressert.

Well we have had the dutch uncle talk, I had to throw my toys out the pram and lay it on the line. At 87 you are not just going to throw this off, so stop deluding yourself, you are no longer 18.....you should be thankful that they put the pacemaker in  etc etc etc....... I am going to have to ask for help with him. Even if its only to get him up washed or showered.......I am crackered already.....
