Yay

the decorator cometh, at last!! but its raining.........

Happy anniversary to us, we are going out for lunch, so I will not have to cook tonight, we can just have a light snack this evening.

I have a load of washing in, I did get the bed linen more or less dry outaside yesterday, but todays load will have to go in the drier. No sewing for the next few days, had a calamity yesterday, so finished sewing for the day. I now have to redo another bit of the mat, but it will have to wait for the decorator to finish first.

Nothing much else to report, so will sign off for today.

Cold and wet

I guess the laundry will be going in the dryer. It has rained during the night and more is forecast for today. Bed stripped ready to remake, cleaner is not coming till Friday, in the hope that the decorator has finished.

I decided to redo one of the mats, so have had to send for some more fabric, I have enough to do one, so I will crack on with that today. I really am very tired of circle mats. Will not be making any more if I can help it. At least not for several months!! I need to get back to stuff for the stall. I also need a session cleaning off the stabiliser, something I can do at night watching TV, there is several sets of free standing lace that need soaking and drying as well. I am putting them in cello packets as I do them.

I cooked a piece of gammon yesterday, will slice it and we will have some for supper with salad,the rest will go in the freezer for another supper and also sandwiches.

My replacement kettle arrived in Saturday, so we are back to a kettle boiling in half the time the caravan kettle took.

Sunny but brrrr

Very bad night last night, 3am and we were still reading. It was blooming cold sitting up. I put my side of the blamket on when I eventaully settled down to sleep.

Prepped supper, we are having casseroled beef with veggies, not sure what we will have for dessert.

I am about to start on the last mats, I will need at least the 3 days intensive sewing if I am going to have them ready for Wednesday. I have decided to redo one of the blue ones, the centre at the back is ruffled.

Sunny but very cold this morning, glad we have not got to go out!!

.Saturday

We went round to the little chapel for breakfast. Quite few cars parked and very few spaces at the tables. We both had a small breakfast, bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans,tomatoes and hash browns. Toast, marmalade, tea or coffee.

Spoke to several of the coffee morning ladies and some people we had not seen before. Two ladies had come through from Nottingham

We arrived home 10 minutes before my replacement kettle arrived. Its amazing what happens if you complain and quote the sale of goods act to people. So we no longer have to wait 10 minutes for the kettle to boil to make tea or coffee.

Supper tonight will be cheese on toast, both too full. I am also shattered after being at the sewing machine since DB went for his siesta.

Friday

Bit of a funny day, the morning just seemed to disappear into the ether. I have spent the afternoon sewing 3 mats down 4th almost finished......

Was expecting to hear from the decorator, so far nothing, I hope he comes on Monday.

Will be spending tomorrow sewing after going round to the little chapel for the annual chapel breakfast.

Supper tonight is the usual fish and chips. Will finish off the creme caramel for dessert.

Shopping day

We were up early doors this morning, wanted to get to Aldi before the rush, back and all unpacked and put away.

Sun is out, its quite warm out of the wind, needed my sunglasses to drive the car. Over spent, but it was stuff for the freezer.

I managed to sew one mat yesterday, I can more or less remember how to do them now, so less time reading the instructions. Second mat cut out hope to get at least 3/4 of it done this afternoon. I want to finish them and get them away. No idea whats for supper, the salmon yesterday was delicious, I poached it in lemon juice and white wine.

Better late than never

We finally got a call from our GP just as we were about to go out to our meeting last night. The gangion is ok, apparently it will not burst, really, I am sceptical to say the least. He has it covered, so it does not get knocked, so it looks like a case of put up and shut up.

Very good meeting last night, the numbers attending seem to go down each time we go........seem to loose interest very quickly. I think the word is appathetic.

Very grey day. I am starting on the mats today, want to try and get them finished for next coffee morning, but not killing myself.

I have got salmon out for supper tonight, will have it with salad. 

Not a happy bunny

in fact I am steaming. Yesterday I phones for a Drs appointment to see about DBs ganglion which is now the size of a large egg. Get to the surgery and its a nurse!!! I specifically told them I wanted him to see a Dr. What did the nnurse do, looked at it and went off to find a Dr. of course at 4.15pm there was no Dr there........someone will ring you in the morning we were told.In the mean time she was doing to put a dressing on to prevent it for getting knocked. By this time I was almost at the point of collapse........no seat offered for me to sit down, so I announced I was going to sit in the car before I ended up on the floor. So we wait for someone to call us this morning.

I also had a problem with my car, the brakes had locked on, eventally they released themselves. I seem to remember the same thing used to happen with my old Skoda.

Washing dried on the line. I also put out a couple of small quilts and some table runners for a bit of a blow. They are now refolded and back in their drawer.

We  have a meeting at the council offices this evening, so we will have to have egg and chips at lunch time. I will make some sandwiches to have when we get home.

Wash day

Yesterday was fine and sunny but with a decent breeze, so I fetched out the 3 large quilts and aired them on the line before re-folding them and putting them back into storage.

Its not a bad morning, so the washer is on. I am getting used to the new one, bit of a steep learning curve, but getting there.

Rang the Dr this morning to get an appointment for DB his ganglion is getting bigger by the day, its almost the size of a large egg, we have an appointment for this afternoon.

Spag bol for supper tonight, I have a couple of small cheesecakes in the frudge, we will have them for dessert.

Sunny Sunday

Very bad night we were drinking tea at 2am, so a late get up. Veggies prepped for supper.

Decorator does not think he will get here until next week, so Will take the opportunity to do a bit more clearing out, I need to put the stored quilts on the line for a blow and re-fold them, they need to be refolded the opposite way to what they are now. Prevents the creases becoming permanant.

I have started a couple of sets of gold and silver tree ornaments, will do them in sets of 3. I got hold of the wrong thread yesterday, had a right job with the first one till I realised what I had done. The reel is in the bin, the machine just does not like it.

Quite a pleasant day a bit of breeze and sunshine.

Supper tonight roast pork, veggies and raspberry trifle for dessert.

Clear out.....

Yesterday I decided to tackle the airing cupboard in the back bedroom. I have 3 shelves now empty and we went into town and offloaded it at the Air Ambulance shop. I also cleared out some other bits and bobs from the hall chest. Decorator messaged me to say that he was not able to make it until a week on Monday, his present job is more complicated than he expected,  so everything glides to a halt.

We called at the coffee shop for a coffee and a large teacake ebtween us, so just fruit for lunch. I have cooked a quiche for supper tonight, so quiche and salad for supper.

About to go and tackle more stuff for the sale and then finish off the order from E's friend. I can then sort out what I am going to sew when.

We had a heavy rain shower earlier, the sun is out, blue sky, but very windy.

busy day

Into town to get our eyes tested. New glasses for DB but not for me, phew, thats saved a packet. I took the ninja kettle in for DPD to collect and return to Ninja. Went into savers. Got what I wanted plus a couple of other things. DB got a note book he was looking for. After our eye test we went to Greggs for lunch, arrived home in time for DB to go for his siesta. I was shattered, did nothing else until it was time to get the supper.

Another windy morning, we are expecting someone to  call and check for asbestos, again !!!!

Small load of whites in the washer, will put them out on the line to dry.

Gosh its windy

So yesterday morning I took the road to Leicester for my check up. I was seen just on time. Usual checks and then a couple of left arm stretches..... apparently they were getting some 'noise' from one of the leads. I asked about the battery life..... approx 5 years, so unless something untoward happens, it won't need changing yet. So the long journey back. I was shattered when I got in. Did no sewing at all yesterday. Tomorrow and Saturday we need to pack up the crystal on the wall shelves in the hall, M is coming to take the shelves down for me and move the chest into the sewing room.

I am not looking forward to the decorator being here, he is going to have to use the sewing room for the paste table, I will have to clear everything up and remember where I have put things, once the hall is done it will be clean up time in the sewing room, will have to cover the machines so they do not get dusted up.

Off into town today to get our eyes tested, I also have to put that parcel in to Ninja. We are going to have lunch with DD2.

Its very windy this morning, we are forcast bad weather at the weekend......and for the next 2 weeks at least.

Sausage, mash and beans for supper tonight.

 

Not a jolly

trip this morning to get my pacemaker checked. Its a bit of a pain, huge hospital, miles of corridors to get where I need to go. They  may well tell me when I need it changed, I have had it 8 years, the battery usually start to fail after about 10. 60 mile round trip. DB is staying at home this time.

Lovely sunny morning, but its very brrr outside. Bad weather is forcast from the end of next week for about a month, not looking forward to that.

No idea whats for supper tonight, have taken bread out for sandwiches at lunch time.

Ooops

Sorry forgot to post yesterday, I was a bit busy, almost forgot to read the meters and send in the readings.

Sheets etc washed and dried on the line yesterday, clothes done today had to use the drier. Finished the bookmarksd and have washed out the stabiliser, they are drying. Also finished one set of the small baubles for the tree. Started the machine off on the second lot. I am packing them in packs of 5 @£10.

It was very foggy this morning, sun came out after lunch, but it is very cold.

Supper tonight is cold meat and salad. We have some ice cream to finish off.

Sunday

 Our usual Sunday breakfast in bed, then shower. I have done the veggies for supper.

Spent most of yesterday on bookmarks, the machine had a hissy fit on one, so had to do it again, I am on the last but one, so hopefully will finish them today, then I can soak them off and let E have them and the mats to send to her friend. I am waiting for confirmation of two fabrics.

Busy week this week, I have the hospital on Wednesday, Thursday we are having our eye test  and Friday we have the surveyors coming to check for asbestos, this is the third time in 3 years they have been to do this. I need to know why. Nothing has been done or disturbed.......

The bungalow opposite has been cleared, so I guess they are going to start gutting it. It was in a terrible mess, nothing had been done to it cleaning wise for months and the smell must have been more than awful.

I have some of the turkey crown I froze  at Christmas out for supper, There is enough left for one more meal or sandwhiches. We will have it with roast potatos, cauliflower and broccoli. I might find enough energy to do a crumble, and we need a loaf.

My energy levels really are very low, I know that DB is responsible for a lot of it, it is like caring for a child at times.

DB

announced yesterday that he had a sore throat........gargle with soluable aspirin, did he? No. Greeted this morning with 'my throat is burning' gargle with aspirin..... 'I only have 2 left'!! Its Saturday the chemist in the village is open, gargle with aspirin and I will go and get you some more. Its like living with a 4yr old.

I managed to get another 2 bookmarks done yesterday, I had to slow the machine down a bit, so they take longer than if I do them at full speed.

No frost again this morning, the sun is trying to get through.

Cooking belly pork casserole for tonight supper, there will be enough for another meal.

Shattered

I am so tired, working on an order for someone, I want to get it finished and paid for, then I am going to have a rest for at least a week. Going to tell E to tell her friend I cannot do anything else for the time being. I started another mat yesterday and do not like it, so I have trimmed the bit I have done, will give it to E along with the other mat and 12 bookmarks. Will then have to wait and see what the lady says about the fabric on both mats.

The engineer came to look at the kitchen extractor yesterday, he is going to have to look and see what can be done to allow it to work faster. After he had been we went to Aldi at Bingham. DB sat in the car whilst I shopped.

No overnight frost but its still brrrr..... the sun is trying to get through the cloud.

Usual supper, fish and chips tonight, DB is having a scoop of ice crem for his dessert.

No frost

According to DB we have seen the last of the frost for about 2 weeks. The sun is shining but there is little warmth in it.

DB had a bad day yesterday a very bad episode of AF at lunchtime and a second one for a couple of hours in the evening. If he has another one today he is off to the Drs Tout sweet!!

We are expecting workmen to come to the kitchen fan, I still have to have the door open and also the window to stop the kitchen steaming up. Then I have to go shopping in Bingham Aldi's.

I managed to finish one mat yesterday, I need to cut the other one out and get it and the bookmarks done over the weekend.

No idea whats for supper tonight, will have to put my thinking cap on. 

Frost

again, but we are fordcast no more after today....hooray.

When I set off for Leicester the roads had cleared, the wind was bitterly cold. Both sets of plates cleaned, DB needed the wire tightening on his bottom plate.

We called at the garden centre for scrambled eggs on toast, first time we have been this year, we had been missed. I am afraid our visits are going to be few and far between, they have put their prices up just a little, but to be honest, since we started shopping in Bingham, we rarely go into Melton.

DB has had a couple of attacks of palpitations, they seem to want to remind us they are still around.

I have almost finished the first of the sample mats, no keen on them myself, but its all grist to the mill.

Quiche made for tonights supper, will have it with a jacket potato and tomato, I have some tomatoes to use up. 

Frost

 again this morning. We have to drive into Leicester to see the techie, we go every 6 months to get a check up on our dental plates. Its very cold and the frost is showing no signs of easing.....wonderful. DB wants to go to the big Wilkinson so we will be setting off early, he needs stuff for the garden.

We went to see our old neighbour yesterday, she has bad legs and is on anti biotics apart from that she seems to be quite well. She was pleased to see us and catch up on the doingd in the close.

I managed to finish the mat I was working on, so its on to the orders now, 2 sample mats and then 12 bookmarks. I hope then to get back to sewing for the stall at the fair.

I have mince cooking for spag bol for supper tonight, there will be enough to freeze for another 2 meals at least. We finished the creme carmel last night so no dessert tonight.

Brrrr

 Heavy frost overnight,its very brrrr this morning. I have a full laod in the washer, it takes a bit longer than my old one, but actually uses less electricity and water. May put it out on the line, will see. The sun is quite bright.

Had a further order in for 12 more bookmarks, once I have done the sample mats I will get on with the book marks, can do 2 at a time in the hoop.

We are going into town after the library has been, going to see our old neighbour for a chat and a cuppa. We have a busy couple of weeks ahead.

Supper tonight will be egg and chips, the resy of the creme caramel for dessert.

Sunny Sunday

 before a frosty week?

Yesterday I did a trail wash, it worked well and I got it almost dry on the line. Finished them of on the rads.

Usual Sunday start, I bought a melon which was lovely and ripe, went down very well and enough left for tomorrow. I have made creme caramel for dessert tonight.

Started another mat this morning, hopefuly will get it finished tomorrow and will be able to start on the ordered ones. I had a further order for more bookmarks 12 this time. 

Its a bright morning, some warmth from the sun, although the forecast is for heavy frost next week. We are going to see our old neighbour tomorrow afternoon after the library van has been. We have not seen her since Christmas.

Supper tonight roast pork and veggies with creme caramel for dessert.

First wash

The new washer arrived at 4pm and my neighbour plumbed it in. Its very different to my old one. I have a small white quick wash in to test it, will have to do an extra spin at the end. Hopefully I will get  it out on the line to dry. I had to buy new pegs as well, the old ones have got very brittle and snap off when you try to push them down to hold the clothes on the line. I ust say the machine is a lot quieter than the old one when it spins, not so much vibration.

Its a bit grey outside, but we do have a breeze and DB aassures me that there is not rain forecast. DB tells me we will get frost again next week. The bulbs are starting to come through in the pots, it will not be the same display as last year, I was busy sewing when they went in.

I have a circle mat almost finished, its for a friend, she came round yesterday with the cash for the bookmarks, she has sent them off to her friend, hopefully the sample mats will go off next week. 

Supper tonight is ADB. need to get some fruit out either for a jelly or a crumble.

New washer day

Expecting and email to say what time they are bringing the new washer, at least when I checked it was not an early delivery, they start at 7am.

Its a cloudy morning. although there is no rain forecast. Outside temp is 8c, so still quite chilly.

I have the bits cut out to start a mat for my friend, still waiting for samples of other fabrics, they were posted earlier this week, was expecting them yesterday.

The weekend is upon us, no plans as such, every day is the same, will be glad when the weather improves enough for Edwin to go out into the garden.

I have cut my cleaner down to every other week, I can manage to shove the Gtec over the carpets and clean the loo etc, the house does not get too dusty, the wall unit in the hall will have to come down next week, I will wash all the crystal etc thats on it and give it a good clean, once we have moved the chest I will be able to get rid of the cobwebs I know are behind it and also run over the carpet. I know we are getting a new one, but there will be a lot of dust in the old, one, the chest has not been moved for over 8 years.

Supper tonight will be the usual fish and chips.

Late again

We had a bad night, drinking tea at 1am, so slept in a bit later. I have a grocery delivery coming this morning, I also have to go and pick up a script from the Dr. My UTI has not gone. I also need to go to the post office, so a round trip. The xray I had last week confirms arthritis in both hands, but my left hand thumb is very bad.....the Dr suggested an injection. I need to think about it. I did manage to get her to agree to give my antib's one at night as a maintenence dose after I have finish my second round of medication. Thats a step forward.

Ordered a new washer, it is coming tomorrow, so thats good, I can do a test wash with a half load of white laundry.

No sewing yesterday, just did not feel like it, may do some this afternoon, onto Christmas ornaments now, going to sell them in packs of 5 gor £12. I have most of the fabric I was waiting for, just two fat quarters to come.

Its fine at the moment, still very cold 8c due to rise to 11c during the day.

Cannot remember whats on the menu for tonight, will have to look at the list of the fridge door when I go through to the kitchen.

Disaster day

Pinch and a punch for the first of the month.......February already.......yesterday was disaster day. The washing machine was spinning, so the washing was almost done. DB was at the sink drying the breakfast dishes, there was a bang.....the washer was as dead as a do-do. I did manage to get the washing out and hung it out on the line, there was a stiff breeze so it did dry eventually, although I spent a fair amount of time running out to rescue stuff before it landed in our neighbours  garden.

So I have the electrician coming this morning to check the electrics, I suspect its the motor, so it means a new washer, something I could do without, but needs must.

Logging into the bank to check the balances this morning, I have paid my credit card twice!! So I had to transfer money to cover that. I think I will go back to bed and get out the other side, see if that makes a difference.

Friend came yesterday to collect the 10 bookmarks, I am still waiting for fabric samples for the mats. I have 20 bookmarks for the sale, they need the stabiliser washing away, then they can be bagged up ready for the sale. I also have santa and snowmen coasters to clean up. I need to measure up the rest of the things I am going to make and get backs for them. Santa and Mrs Claus will need big bags. 

Its coffee morning at the little chapel this morning, so a slow walk round there later.

Supper tonight will be something and salad, possibly with a jacket potato.
