Rain, sun rain

Bit of an off and on day today, it had been raining when we got up, then the sun came out followed by more rain.

I have spent most of the day on the embroidery machine, I have completed 4 of the six sets of snow flakes........the machine is behaving itself for a change, although I did have to restart it a couple of times before it would load.

Sausage and mash for supper, rice pudding for dessert.

Repair time

so the plumber has just arrived to sort the toilet. Its a job that has needed to be done for a long while, had any of the previous plumbers done what the chap did yesterday we would not have the problem. I have thought for ages that the problem was in the joint where the loo meets the pipe into the sewer. The floor covering is coming up and I will have to scrub the wooden for at least twice to try and get rid of the smell that has permeated into the wood. Once I am sure the smell has gone and the floor dry I will get the cushion floor replaced and possibly get the decorator to repaint it when he does the bedroom.

I had a problem loading designs onto my machine yesterday, I had to stop halfway through a design, I just hope the machines remembers where it was when it stopped.

Its very cold this morning, DB is going to start washing the flower pots from the garden.

Pork and rice for supper, I have almost half a bottle of milk left so I am going to make another rice pudding, will finish off the crumble at lunch time and we can have the rice pudding tonight.

Pelly wally sun

It rained yesterday until after I had dried the laundry in the dryer!! Then the sun came out. We have very pale sun this morning and boy, is it cold!! Winter drawers on!!

DB managed to finish sorting the shed, have not looked at it myself, his sorting and mine are two very different things. I took the Gtec to bits and cleaned it, I am ashamed, the filter water, after I had cleaned it, was black!! Note to self to do it once a month from now on. Will mark it in the diary.

We are waiting for a council workman to come and sort the toilet, the smell in there is horrendous, there is definitely a problem there.

I managed all four borders on the quilt yesterday, It is going to the lady who quilted Niblets quilt. I am going to post it to her. Maybe it will be done in time for Little Miss's birthday at the end of October. Now I need to concentrate on things for Christmas, I have decided that everyone is getting a set of 6 free standing lace tree ornaments, I can do two at a time, so 6 sets should not take me too long......fingers crossed.

I have taken salmon out of the freezer to cook for tonight, will have it with salad and a jacket potato, I have a really big one, half each will do us both. Crumble to finish.

Its raining!!!

We also have high winds which is pushing the rain sideways, we do need rain badly, the soil id dry up to 4 inches down.

Pork was lovely last night done in the ninja for 10 minutes each side....I had also made an apple and blackberry crumble, it was a large one so will do us at least 3 suppers.

Laundry in, it will go in the dryer, no way is it going to dry outside. I have 2 loads to do.

We are officially out of isolation today, so I will be able to go over to my neighbour and have a chat, her daughter is still there goes back to Spain a week today. She too is fine which is a relief.

No gardening for DB, he may continue to clear up the shed. M cleaned my car last night and also checked the tyres, they are off to greece next Saturday for a week, they get back as hopefully we go.DB is panicking about fuel. I sincerely hope it has been sorted out by the time we are ready to go.

No cleaning, just the GTec to put over the carpets, I did the wet room and toilet when I got up.

I managed to get all the sashing on the quilt yesterday I have to lay it out on the floor and measure the middle to cut the 2 side borders and get them on, then its the top and bottom and its finished, will trim it up and phone the lady who does the long arm quilting, could take it for her to do whilst we are away if she has not got anything else on the go.

Egg and chips tonight, I made an apple and blackberry crumble yesterday will do us for a couple more suppers.

Oppss

Forgot I had a shower yesterday, had another this morning, so will have to make do with a couple of morning washdowns to get back into line.  DB can only have a shower every other day, he skin gets too dry if he showers more frequently.

Not sure what its going to do today, it seems cooler, DB says it will rain tomorrow so laundry may have to go in the dryer.

DB is out clearing a bit more of the shed.

I have actually pinned a piece of sashing onto GGD quilt, I am going to finish it ready to go to the quilter. I am still undecided what to do about the big embroidery machine. I feel that I need some inspiration what to do next. I did enjoy doing the plaque for Jenny last year.....may be need to go down that way again, although having it framed was quite costly.

Tonight supper is pork steaks, I am going to try roasting them in the Ninja and using the air crisp to finish them off. Usual roasted veg, I need to use up some milk so will make a creme caramel, it will do us for 2 nights.

Autumn

is here, the days are getting shorter, I am drawing the curtains and putting the light on around 7pm now. I hate the winter days when 4pm at the latest is the time before we shut the curtains, it makes such a ling evening.

Not sure why, I was in a bit of a grump yesterday........I did feel better after I had been out in the garden taking more cuttings, it was quite pleasant. The gardener put in some plants and cut down a load more. I have ordered more of the Strulch we put on the garden last winter, it did the job keeping the weeds and slugs at bay. Watching Chelsea one of the gardeners said to cut two bulbs of garlic in half and boil them in 2 litres of water, mash them down and then strain the liquor into a bottle, a quarter of a sprayer filled with the liquor and topped up with water, shake well and spray the leaves of plants like Hosta's, slugs and snails hate the smell so leave the plants alone........DB asked if that was how you got garlic snails!! Sorry........

DB is starting on the annual clear up the shed this morning. I am going to do the veg for supper and thats it. Feet up time.

I cooked some chicken thighs yesterday, used the air fryer to crisp the skin, it worked really well, we will have a couple tonight with veggies, there is rice pudding for dessert.

And relax

Cleaning finished for this week, starts again on Monday!! Cleaner is off on holiday on Sunday.

It looks like we are ok, its a over a week and no signs of the dreaded lurgy, so I guess this time we have been lucky. My neighbour is fine too which is a relief.

Gardener is coming this afternoon, so I have to sort out the plants to go at the end of the fence on the left of the garden. There is cutting  back to do as well. If its not too cold I may well complete taking the geranium and fuschia cuttings so the pots can be emptied.

Watching Chelsea yesterday I realised that I can get 3 for the price of one, I need to plant the tulips at about 4 - 6 inches, then daffs and lastly crocus, that should see us through the spring, I will have to empty the pots for the summer flowers to go in, and the bulbs stored in the shed. I now need to get daff and crocus bulbs...... I should not watch Chelsea, I always see something I have to have!! The people I buy my clematis from had an arch in their display with not one but four clematis on..........it also came up on facebook.......aarrgghhhh!!

Supper, fish and chips, I have chicken thighs to cook, then I will make a rice pudding, it will last us at least 3 days.........

Thursday, September 23, 2021

the forecast was right

We have a sunny but rather windy day. Everything is blowing about outside.

Today was kitchen day, the worst room in the house, so much stuff I simply cannot do without!! It took me almost 2 hours, but it has had what my mother would have called a bottoming. I am now officially shattered. Will have to stir my stumps shortly and sort out supper. Fritatta and salad, I bought smoked sausage so will have some of that as well as some cheese in the frittata. No dessert.

DB still has the headache, I am wondering if he has either slept funny or ricked his neck, it did not keep him awake last night, although we were late putting the light out, so a bit of a slow start this morning.

Sorted out all the meat from the delivery, its all in the freezer. By the time DB got up after his siesta, I had packed away most of the delivered shopping as well. Both freezers are full to bursting......should keep us going for quite a while.

Not good news about gas suppliers going bust, our went down the swanney in February, we were placed with another company and our monthly payment has more than doubled. I am going to go back to sending weekly meter readings. Will not be putting the heat on until well into October, it will be fleece jumpers and thick socks.

Pork casserole

Pork Casserole.

I tend to use boned belly pork, but you can use pork steak or shoulder pork steaks. If you use belly pork, try and buy the leanest you can get.

2 Shoulder pork steaks, cubed

Sliced up carrot, leek and onion.

Pork stock cube.

Mixed herbs. pepper to taste.

I use a ninja, table spoon of oil in the bottom, saute the onion, leeks and carrot. Tip in the pork and turn until its sealed, add stock cube and I put in just over 1/4 pint of water, give it a stir, add in the mixed herbs and then pressure cook for 25 - 30 minutes. You can also do it in a pressure cooker. when the meat is cooked I add a dessert spoon of corn flour to thicken. A tray of belly pork makes enough for 2 suppers, so I freeze half for another day. I do like to make it a day ahead and leave it in the fridge overnight to allow the flavour to develop. You can also put a tin of chopped tomato's.

Today has been one of those days, washing done and dried, two deliveries, one of groceries and one of meat, the living room had also been cleaned, just have the kitchen to do tomorrow.

Another bright day, sunny and a bit of a breeze......

Just cooking sausage and mash with mixed veg for supper.

Tuesday, September 21, 2021

More laundry

We should have been waking up in Yorkshire........instead we are here trying to keep up with household tasks. I did manage the quilt yesterday, although I had to sit down to put the pillow cases on. I then cleaned the bedroom, used the micro mop (Ken Dodd) to go round the ceiling and walls behind the wardrobe. Disturbed a couple of spiders, they are now learning to swim!!

We had a showers this morning, so I have cleaned down the tiles. I discovered a couple of small patches of black mould, one of them is behind the sealant round the shower, will have to get it off and get the sealant redone. Floors need steaming. Its 2 weeks since they were last done.

Towels are in the washer, should dry outside......DB says its going to be dry all day.

Need to cook the pork casserole for supper, will put the Ninja on whilst I am finishing cleaning the bathroom and toilet.

Expecting a delivery today, it will go straight in the outside freezer.

Monday, September 20, 2021

A new day

We had rain yesterday, it cleared in the afternoon and it was a nice evening. Washing machine on, should get the laundry dry on the line. Will clean the bedroom when I have changed the bed, also want to make a loaf. Plenty of flour.

So we are on day 5, no sign of the dreaded covid as yet, half way through,

Just to be on the safe side I have ordered 14 Wiltshire Farm Foods suppers, will split them between the two freezers. Have also done a bulk order for meat. Intend to bring in the meat etc we need for this week, to make room in the outside freezer for that as well. Looks like a busy morning.

DB will be going out to the garden. I am going to get the gardener back on Friday regardless, there is plenty for him to do. In the mean time will try and take the cuttings if I don't get to it I will pot up one of each of the plants and overwinter them, take the cuttings in the spring.

Supper tonight is smoked haddock with a poached egg and bread and butter. No dessert.

Sunday, September 19, 2021

Late post

Not sure why, just have not got the computer until now.

Sorted out soup for lunch and chicken for tonight, prepped the veg.

We were due to go away tomorrow, but of course we have had to put it off following our friends diagnosis. We are both negative at the moment, fingers crossed. I need to do another test tomorrow. My neighbour is still testing negative.

We had rain this morning for a couple of hours, quite heavy but not too bad, the sun is out now.

I have to tackle the bed tomorrow, so will also do the bedroom. I have had someone ask me if I still had the wardrobe, they have not got back to me, so it looks like they were time wasting.

Hey ho, tomorrow is another day.

Saturday, September 18, 2021

Isolation

So we are back in isolation mode for the next 9 days. Yes Mary we have been double jabbed, expecting to be called for a top up at some point.

Yesterday was manic, however we got through it ok. Neighbours daughter is here, her brother picked her up from the airport, he and his wife did not go into the house, so they will be able to go away. C was going to test her mother last night, fingers crossed she is ok. She will need another test in a few days as will we.

Holiday cancelled, also the October one to the Cotswolds. I have booked to go to Norfolk for a few days next month. C will still be here for a few days after we go and A & C will be back from their holiday.  I use bookings.com, we can cancel up to 3 days before we go.

Load of laundry on, its a sunny morning so it should dry ok. I have to change the bed on Monday and will have to do a room each day cleaning, gardener and cleaner laid off for now.

I was going to unpack the bags, but have decided to leave them, we have enough clothes to keep us going for now.

I have put in an order from Morrison for next Tuesday, hopefully that will see us through till we get away.

Gammon joint in the ninja, will slice it when its cold, we will have some tonight with salad and I will freeze the rest ready sliced. No dessert.

Friday, September 17, 2021

I could scream

Phone call this morning from friend who was at the coffee morning, she has tested positive for Covid.....Arrgggg, our holiday cancelled, neighbours son has cancelled theirs, gardener and cleaner put off for at least 2 weeks........waiting for the results of DBs test, he is like a baby horrendous trying to get at his tonsils, even if it comes back negative, I will not believe it. I have to do mine in 30 minutes time, after we get his result. I will do my own......watch this space.

Thursday, September 16, 2021

Sunny

and quite warm, after two very grey days.

Been to Aldi, small shop, just some essentials to see us through to Monday. Shattered...DB has just brought me a cup of tea, very welcome.

Coffee morning went off ok, just 8 of us there this time. B told us that builders were coming to replace the last of the chapel windows for double glazed ones and also change the porch so the door is in the middle not as it is now, at the side. I need to take a couple of photos before the work starts.

Neighbour is doing very well, her daughter arrives from Spain tomorrow, so I can stand down a bit. Looking forward to a couple of days away.

Last night we watched a programme we recorded on Sunday night, it was about the slum conditions some people have been forced to live in, I was appalled, people in this country should not have to live in houses full of damp and mould, what made it worse was that they are council or housing association properties!! The tenants had reported the problems but very little or nothing had been done to alleviate the problems. People from the councils and housing associations who appeared on the programme said they were sorry......That is just not enough, talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, thats not in it. It upset me so much I had a problem sleeping. How lucky we are that we live in a bungalow which is maintained by the council. We are warm and dry and do not have a problem with any damp.

Supper tonight is the last of the quiche with some salad and finish off the rasps in jelly.

Wednesday, September 15, 2021

Dull

and rather grey, we had 3/4" of rain yesterday, nice and slow, not really heavy, so the ground is better. Its a grey morning, but DB tells me that it is not supposed to rain.

Chap came from the council to look at the Japanese knotweed and confirmed that it is indeed. They employ contractor to deal with it, so we have to wait for them to contact our neighbour, its on their ground but between the two fences, you can only get at it from our side.

Coffee at the little chapel this morning, hope there are a few more there today, it was a bit sparse last time.

I need to photograph the wardrobe in our bedroom and put it on our local sales pages. If it has not sold in two weeks I will get B to collect it and it can go to the charity that sells stuff or uses it to set up homeless people.

Found meat balls in the freezer, so will do them in tomato sauce and have them with some pasta for supper. Raspberry jelly for dessert.

Tuesday, September 14, 2021

At last

we have rain. not heavy, just a steady down pour, much needed.

I went to DD2's for a cuppa yesterday, have not seen her since the beginning of August. DGD was there too on a day off.

I took the bags to one of the charity shops and they refused them, so I did a trawl and found another shop that would take them. I still have books to go, another half box full.

As its raining I will concentrate on making sure we have everything but the last minute stuff in the cases for next week. We are back for 10 days and then off again to the Cotswolds for a long weekend.

My neighbour is doing much better, more confident, but still needs quite a bit of help. Her daughter is coming from Spain on Friday to cover whilst her son and us are away. So no sleepless nights wondering if she is ok.

Coffee at the little chapel tomorrow, although we may be late, they are coming to sort out the Japanese knotweed around 10am. as you can only get to it from our side they will need to come into the back garden.

Supper tonight is quiche, baked potato and beans, as requested by DB.

Monday, September 13, 2021

Another grey day

I do wish it would rain, not storm type rain, but gentle, ground soaking rain. The ground is so dry and DB is hassling me to get plants in. No way whilst the ground is so dry.

Laundry is on, think it will be going in the dryer, I want to get it done and away.

Starting to get organised for next Monday, two wheeled cases on the bed in the sewing room. DB has a list, so things have to be ticked off as they go in. When we went away the other weekend he forgot to put his razor by the bag, so it did not go with us.

This afternoon he is going to Evergreens, so I am dropping stuff off at the charity shop and then going on to see DD2 for a cuppa and a chat.

Egg and chips tonight, need to use up some eggs before they go out of date.

Sunday, September 12, 2021

Sunny Sunday?

We still have not had rain, the garden is suffering, so I guess we will be out with the hose later.

It is just a week till we go away, so I need to get myself together and pack the cases etc.

Yesterday I did a job I had asked DB to do. Sorted through the bookcase, I now have some empty shelves and a large box of books. Its too heavy to carry so will be putting them into 2 bags.

DB is at Evergreens tomorrow, so I will drop the stuff off at the charity shop and then go on to see DD2 have not seen her since my birthday.

SS phoned his dad yesterday, he has sold two of his houses, he needs to sell a couple more, he wants to buy a new build without a mortgage. DB spoke to him about the baby. SS is also bothered that she is not reaching milestones, he had spoken with the health visitor, she seems to think she is a late developer. I do not agree....a child not walking at 2 is not a late developer, however she has been referred to the hospital. So we wait and see.

Nothing planned except to cook supper, I had some sliced beef in the freezer, so will have that with veggies. We finished off the rice pudding last night, so no dessert tonight.

Saturday, September 11, 2021

Still no rain,

although apparently the village up the top of the hill had a downpour yesterday afternoon, it passed over us without raining even a spot, so watering duties again.

Its is dull and cold this morning, typical cool autumn morning. DB is out planting cabbage and I am about to start a loaf of bread.

I needed to use some milk up yesterday so I made a rice pudding, took some over to my neighbour, whats left will do us tonight.

I need to put the bags of clothes etc in the boot of the car, DB is going to evergreen on Monday so I can drop them off at the charity shop. Perhaps then I can get on with the blessed quilt, tidy up the room and then decide where to go from there.

I need to shift more clutter, We ditched a lot when we moved, but it has caught up again, it has to go. DB is the worst culprit, I found seed catalogues from 3 years ago yesterday.

Right time to stir my stumps and get on,

Supper will be frittata and salad, I have some eggs I need to use up.

Friday, September 10, 2021

So its Friday

again we did not get the promised rain, so unless it rains today I am back on watering duties again tonight.

Very bad night, last time I looked at the clock it was almost 5am......its a long time since I had that bad a night.

Need to run the Gtec over the carpets, cleaner is not coming next Monday, she is going to a funeral in Essex. The following week we are off to Skipton for 4 days including a trip on the Canal. We are staying on a farm.

It keeps clouding over, at least it is cooler than yesterday, a very muggy day, saps your strength. I went over to check my neighbour. she was having her lunch, the social worker has got her linked in with a lady who lives in the village, she started cooking lunches for various people in the village during lockdown. Thats one problem solved. She is walking a lot better, stronger now she is eating again.

Time to get on......need to raid the outside freezer and get bread and rolls in, DB wants a bacon sandwich at lunch time.

Thursday, September 9, 2021

Rain forecast

according to the forecast we should have had rain overnight, it obviously forgot to rain here. Its very warm and dry.

I have started to plant up cuttings from the geraniums, they will go in the greenhouse when its a bit cooler. We are starting to move the plants from the patio outside the kitchen door.

I had a better night last night, so I am not feeling quite so tired. trying to keep drinking, I am so hot!!

DB was out in the garden dittering as usual, we have decided what to do in the bit at the side of the new fence where the cold frame was, it is going to get some ground cover plants and 3 shrubs to fill the space up. I still have to tackle the new cold frame, it needs putting together.

Yesterday afternoon DB found a piece of Japanese knotweed growing between the two fences, not on our land but next door. They have reported it to the council, its their responsibility to deal with it and September is the right month to do it. It is the first sign of knotweed since we moved in, when we found 2 lots growing by the old fence. It can lie fallow for a number of years. It is so invasive it can grow through concrete. If you have it in the garden of a privately owned house, you have to declare it  should you want to put the property up for sale.

Supper tonight is chicken and rice, just for a change. I still have some chicken thighs in the freezer, I need to thaw them, bone and cook them. We have some cream to use up, so I have poached some pears in white wine.

Wednesday, September 8, 2021

Roasting

yesterday and it looks like the same today.

All the laundry dried, have towels in this morning which will go out shortly.

My neighbour across the road is doing much better, she is more confident using her walking frame and thanks to the help she is getting she is eating better as well. Her cleaner is in this morning, so I will go over this afternoon whilst DB has his siesta. her daughter is coming over from Spain for two weeks whilst her son and we are away.

All DB's clothes, shoes and coats are in the wardrobe in the wall in our bedroom, I am hoping to get my stuff put away too. I have a feeling the two suitcases will be going under the bed to leave the base clear for my shoes. Then I will tidy everything thats going to the charity shop into a couple of bags and I might then be able to see the floor and chair.

I sold two things yesterday, need to have a rummage and see what else I can find to go out. The wardrobe is almost empty, just about 10 years of diaries DB refuses to throw out to deal with and my handbags and the 'monster' can go. I will put it on the local facebook pages and see if I can sell it otherwise it will be going either to the chapel or the furniture place in Melton.

Supper tonight is sausage and mash, possibly with cabbage, the greyhound cabbages are ready. No dessert.

Tuesday, September 7, 2021

Again

we have wall to wall sunshine, it got very hot yesterday afternoon, even the laundry was quite warm.

One down side to the warm weather.....the farmers are spreading slurry, the stink is horrendous and of course the heat makes it worse. Still its only for a few days.

DB is out in the garden before it gets too hot, I need a swift trip to the post office and have a white load of laundry to hang out.

People coming this morning to collect a couple of things I put on our local selling page, lots more to go and then the wardrobe itself. I dread to think whats behind it, have not moved it since we moved in 6 years ago. The chest in the hall is the same, the wall shelves just rest on it although they are fixed to the wall as well, I need to gather up enough courage to move it so we can clean the wall and carpet. Thats for another day.

Salmon and salad for supper tonight, we will not want a hot meal, its due to be 25c this afternoon.

Monday, September 6, 2021

The sun is a shining

for a change. yesterday afternoon was quite warm, and it looks as if we are going to have another warm day today.

I have a plan!! I am starting to take the big flowers pots etc to bits and  take cuttings from the other plants before they go in the compost bin. The garden has been lovely this year, now its dying back I can see spaces where I can plant things I have been keeping going in their pots. Now B has his greenhouse I can over winter the cuttings in there, will only have to bring them in if its exceptionally cold.

The lamb was disappointing, very fatty, hardly any decent meat and it took ages to cook, I lined the meat time with foil but it was still a greasy mess, yuk.

Cleaner here this morning, the sitting room and kitchen are not too bad, but the back bedroom is like a tip, I have been emptying wardrobes and putting out stuff for the charity shops. DB had 6 pairs of shoes he never wears in the bottom of his as well as a pair of boots he has worn twice, they along with the Clarkes shoes I have been trying to sell are also destined for the CS.

Supper is what I can get off the lamb that is not solid fat, will make a raspberry jelly for dessert, or maybe not.

Sunday, September 5, 2021

Wots that???

the sun appears to have decided to grace us with its appearance this morning, it is certainly a bit warmer outside.

DB is out in the garden, 'tidying up', I could do with batting on with the same in the house. I am getting more and more irritated each day with mess!! Trouble is that some of it is of sentimental value, if I am going to part with some of that I need to gird my loins!!

Edwin has a full set of Rebus books in the bookcase, I have asked him to sort the bookcase out, which so far has met with a deaf ear. If he is not careful I will tackle it myself and he will find them missing. I have a set of the quilting story books. I have read them several times, they really need a shelf to themselves or find a new home. I also need to tackle the wardrobes in our bedroom and the sewing room. Having thoughts about quilting as well. I have a lot of those books in the back bedroom. I think most of them will have to go.

Supper is prepped, just have to cook it, roast shoulder of lamb, the last of the bread and butter pudding tp follow.

Saturday, September 4, 2021

a bit brighter

this morning, have had enough of the grey day.

Off to the market to get fresh fruit and some salad stuff. managed to spend £20, but all good quality, and some will need a few days to ripen up.

Freezers sorted yesterday so I have more idea whats in them, enough meat to keep us going for quite a few days. Will have to use it up before I buy any more.

Went across to see my neighbour, she is quite a bit better, walking on her own, her son is there so she is eating ok, which is helping. Carers coming in 3 times a day, so using frozen meals she is getting by.  Next time I go over I will snaffle a couple of plates and do a couple of fresh meals for her.

Today we have all day breakfast, I am going to make a small bread and butter pudding for dessert, it will do us a couple of days. We mostly do not have a dessert during the week.

Time to go, soup is on for lunch have a frozen baguette to cook to go with it.

Still no sewing done. The sewing room is a bit tidier, but I still need to clear stuff to go to the charity shop.

The fence connected up to the arch at last, divides the garden off once I get the bushes etc in it will look very different. We will just let it age naturally. We watched a lovely dragon fly in the garden for quite a while, pity I had not got my camera, he settled for a couple of seconds on the door of the shed.

Friday, September 3, 2021

I am so fed up

with the awful grey days, its September not December, we need sun!!

I am still not 100%, so taking life a bit steady, this morning we are emptying the two freezers and doing a stock take, I want to designate baskets for things like fish, meat etc so I do not have to have a mad fling about to find what I want. DB will be in charge of the stock list, I need to leave the shoulder of lamb out to defrost for Sunday, I will marinade it in red wine once its thawed out.

I need to get up strength to sort out the two metal wardrobes so I can loose the wardrobe in our bedroom, we can then turn the bed round. I struggling to find a date when we can have the decorator in to do the walls etc and a new carpet.......I need to get my organizing head on for a bit.

My sewing room is a bit of a mess still, I need to find some strong bags to pack a load for the charity shop and also sort out the hangers, there are one or two wooden ones I want to keep and skirt hangers to hang skirts rather than how I have them at the moment.

Fish and chips tonight, no dessert, we just have fresh fruit about 7.30pm. I do plan to make a jelly with raspberries in at the weekend.

Thursday, September 2, 2021

Grey days again

very depressing.

Coffee morning was good just 6 of us in the end. Quite a bit of chat.

My neighbour was discharged from hospital on Tuesday, yesterday morning she fell on the hall, she was on the floor for 4 hours waiting for an ambulance. She is still at home, she was very shaken but no broken bones. I really feel she should not be at home. Her son has taken time off from work to try and sort something out. I am going over this afternoon for a cup of tea.

Off to Aldi this morning, I am not buying fruit or veg from there, we will go to the market on Saturday, the stuff is fresher and lasts longer.

Chicken with rice for supper tonight, DB is still loosing weight, me? forget it, despite eating less I am still the same. I know the key is exercise but what do you do when your back screams in agongy after 10 minutes???

Wednesday, September 1, 2021

pinch an' a punch

the first of september and the heating has come on, its cold and grey again.

Sheets in the washer, they will go in the dryer.

Coffee morning at the little chapel this morning, a chance to catch up with friends again.

Feeling a bit down this morning, I am worried about Aimee, I think she may have something called Hypertonia....... I am saying nothing, not my problem.

I need to spend some time in the garden, the pots need emptying and getting ready for the bulbs to go in, I will take cuttings from the geraniums and possibly the fuchsias for next year. I need to phone the nursery and see if they will plant up the hanging baskets with pansies.

Need to get my shopping list for Aldi done, I need to stock up a bit now winter is on the horizon.

Supper tonight, beef casserole, will do the veg shortly so I just have to cook it later. We are not eating dessert just now.
