Saturday DB ended in bed for 2 hours after a dizzy spell. We went over and put the frozen food in the freezer, now referred to as garage freezer rather than coal house freezer. There were a couple of bits in the post, did not bother to put the heat on at all, just locked up and came away.
Sunday was always going to be a stressful day. We started off as usual with brekkie in bed. Then I did two loads of washing and dried them in the dryer, folded and put away, suitcase with clothes in for Monday night/Tuesday ready. machine was packed away.......It will need a strong chap to carry the bag. Up into the attic to see what was up there and make sure its empty. Missed the bottom step as I came down the steps..oooppss, landed in the toilet, no bones broken, but a nice bruise where I clattered my arm on the toilet. At least it was not my head.
Early supper, neighbour came round to disconnect the gas cooker and put the access board to the attic back. Also disconnected the burglar alarm and took the ring bell off the wall.
We could not move for boxes....... DB packed the contents of the mediciene cabinet in a box, it A trip to the toilet in the night was like navigating through a narrow passage way in rocks.........
Supper was some of the roast pork cooked the other week with roast potatoes, peas and carrots. No dessert.
So it is now a week later, we are still not unpacked, do a couple of boxes every day, kitchen, sitting room and bedroom are okish.
We have been without internet for over a week, tried to connect and it would not so BT sent out an engineer today and at last we are fixed up again.
Moving is always a stressful business and this has been so much worse because we are 9 years older. We are still unpacking boxes, have a long way to go before I can set up the sewing room again. DD1 has been this morning to put up the rogues gallery and DB's weather station. BT chap was here sorting the broadband, apparently the wires were connected wrong in the box at the endof the road. It had been difficult trying to keep in touch with my mobile. We also could not find the controls to the TV and freesat box. I found them on Sunday when I went to put something away in one of the drawers of the big chest that was in the hall.
We have had some very cold frosty nights, this morning was very misty, but it has turned out to be a lovely day, nice and sunny.
Twice lasy week I resorted to the fish and chip shop, one night for fish and chips and the other for a portion of chips to have with some left over corned beef.
Sunday we went out for lunch with DD2, she paid for us as a mothers day present which was very kind of her.
Tonight I am afraid it will be egg, chips and beans........we did have braised beef last night. I have not got round to doing my menu list yet. Did go to Aldi last Friday, was shocked at how little was on the shelves, several things I wanted I could not get. Its Morrison this week, I am going down myself.
So sorry if you have missed me, but I am back now, full steam ahead!!
Glad to see you back. I imagine the move was and is very stressful. It does leave one very tired. Hope there will be better days ahead.
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to hear from you and am glad the move is over and done. Hope you and DB can safely navigate around the boxes that remain withour doing yourselves a mischief! One box at a time, and it will be finished sooner or later. Wish I could beam over to lend a hand!
ReplyDeleteSit with a good book as needed! Also use the slow cooker if your unpacked it.
Big hugs!
Moving is very stressful, the unpacking seems to take forever, doesn't it!. Trying to find things you know you have but cannot find. Been there, it gets better.
ReplyDeleteGive yourself some time to rest, those boxes are going anywhere.
